996 RS's for sale
Discussion
Evening all, Jzm has two 996 rs's for sale, on white/blue, one white/red. Just on a fishing trip as to history of these cars, believe the white/blue one was seawise's old car, anyone know any history on these two cars? Seen comments in another thread about one having been 'fighting'. Keeping my eye out for a decent straight car, don't expect to find one that hasn't been tracked as after all thats where these cars excel, but would prefer a non damaged car.
Hi Pete,
AGTlaw knows the story with most of the '6RSs on the market.
Apparently, the red/white car has had some front corner damage at some point and has over-revs recorded in the last few hours of use, hence why it's sticking around.
The white/blue car may be sold, but not sure on that. I think someone on here now has it but could be getting my wires crossed.
ETA - As if by magic.

The JZM white/red GT3 RS has some history.
Advertised at £62,900 in June 2011. Then £59,900 with 26,950 miles in September 2011. At that time it had some very recent rev range 2 activity. The car didn't have any decals on at that point. The MOT history disclosed that the car used to be white and black. In December 2011, the asking price was reduced to £57,900. The car then left the market.
In March 2012, it was crashed quite heavily at Oulton Park on the annual RS day. The photographs I've seen show that it would need a new front bumper, right front wing and driver side door at a minimum, as well as new suspension parts and possibly a new wheel. Other panels were damaged and have likely been repainted when the parts aforementioned were replaced.
The car appeared back on the market in July 2012 with its red decals in place, 27,480 miles declared and an asking price of £58,900.
I know for sure that this is the same car because I retain emails from the dealer confirming the chassis number and the photographs from Oulton include one clearly showing the VIN plate in the windscreen.

I think the red Oulton car is the car that's still damaged & recently advertised everywhere ...
Photographs I've seen suggest otherwise. The photographer at Oulton was careful to get the chassis number ....1411. It's the JZM car. If I wasn't 100% sure then I wouldn't post info.I wonder how many of the 100 or so 996rs's have not been bent in some way or another. I must have seen at least 3 badly damaged over the years. I spoke to a guy at a Spa track day 4/5 years ago and he had looked at 8 cars even back then before he found one that hadn't been bent. An undamaged original 996rs must be one of the best investments going. Ones with slightly creamy bonnets where the carbon has discoloured the white paint will fetch a premium as this will be proof of no paint!
ok, the white and blue '03 RS with JZM - yes thats my old car (sorry i can't recall the chassis no, all the history file, which was large in my ownership, went to the next owner). all of this is from my memory, to the best of my knowledge in good faith, etc. it was first registered in nov'11 delivered to chap by OPC Guildford who was a serial RS nut (also had a 993 GT2 which was lent to 'performance car magazine' for a test of all the 993's back in '95). the car was then sold by Cridfords at 3k miles to a bloke who used to post on PH a lot under handle of 'kurgen'. he part-ex'd the car in jan '07 for a 996 GT2 with Paragon. they sold the car to me feb '07 with 12k miles on the clock. unbeknown to them the car had a small incident at wipperman on the nordscheife and was repaired 'under the radar' so to speak by Manthey motors and at which time they also fitted their k410 kit (exhaust, ecu and race manifolds). this all surfaced after my purchase thanks to the power of PH (a bit late, but there u go, we live and learn) and JZM who had the car in for a MM short shift kit and alcons discs front and rear change and confirmed what work was done after checking with MM in Germany. frankly the repair was so good no one would have picked it up but for investigation on this forum and the MM database. i owned the car from feb '07 (i paid £59k for it then) until 'oct '09 with 20k miles when i foolishly swapped it for a mint gen1 997 RS which whilst brilliant didn't entertain like a 996 RS does. Paragon gave me £49k for it, but it needed a fair amount of prep including usual paint refresh, a clutch, pads, discs (although i believe they just put the ceramics back on it and put the alcons in a box in the boot). it's had at least 2 owners since then, and was resold by Paragon a year ago (so must have been looked after reasonably by the chap who had it after me for them to retail it again). i believe he swapped it for a cup car as he got the racing bug. it's been on and off sale with JZM since summer '12 and the only reason i can see for it sticking is the optimistic pricing and the fact it's sans a/c - although of course the last owner could have buzzed the engine, who knows, so the over-revs would need checking amongst other normal due diligence. now the lack of a/c never bothered me at all, it's not a daily driver so it just wasn't an issue. i would have thought in the very long term that would actually be seen as a positive, but perhaps not. certainly my old a/c equipped porsches (a 993 RS and 930) it never really worked, so i doubt thats an issue to a serious buyer. and as far as it's hidden past ('the wipperman incident') well it never negatively impacted on how the car drove, if anything it made me less anxious about kissing a barrier on the track (not that i did of course !) and something good came of it, in that whilst it was at MM being repaired they fitted the k410 kit. it's a bloody fast car in the best colour and hand on heart i'd buy it back in a flash if i could justify it to 'the management'... i think that covers it all !
As is not unusual for a low number run of another derivative, the run didn't start from 000.

the '69' immediately after the ZYS in the chassis number indicated the car is a 996 GT3.. after this the last four digits in the chassis number indicate the build number.. for example my 996 GT3 chassis is in full;
WPOZZZ99ZYS691280....
this verifies that my car was the 1280 car built of 1692 cars....[/footnote]

I am aware of 'buyer beware' but is this the sort of stock that can be sold at well known specialists such as JZM? Not questioning the history of this particular car at all but I would have hoped that a well known dealer would not be selling such cars?Advertised at £62,900 in June 2011. RS chassis numbers are similar but ..Z4S69 then 4 digits. The earliest number I've seen (of about 30) is 0908 (the Jersey copart car). They are mostly in the 1000-2000 range.WPOZZZ99ZYS691280.
