Hi,

Does anyone know if it possible to plan a route using some mapping software and then download it onto the PCM so it will guide you around a pre-defined route? I expect probably not, but this would be a great function for complex road trips where you don't want to just follow the SatNav's suggested route.

Thanks
Steve

No possible, you will need a separate third-party Sat-Nav like Garmin or TomTom.

I used to be a big fan of TomTom but the latest models restricted the number of way-points on your itinerary to 4 which is crazy. For our last EU trip we purchased the new Garmin Nuvi 3590LMT which has been awesome. If you want to save some money, then buy a second-hand TomTom that does not have the 4 way-point limit. Either way I find the Tyre Application invaluable for route planning and then export to either a TomTom or Garmin.

You can hack newer TTs to give the older ITN functionality back, there was a link to a guide on SELOC the other day but I'll be buggered if I can find it now...

Thanks. I do have an old TT with Euro maps so I should use that! It's a shame Tyre doesn't work on a Mac, not been able to find anything similar.

There is a function in the PCM for loading location data in from USB, but I've never tried it / don't know how it works.
