Supersport Prices
Discussion
Cars are worth what people are willing to pay.
Just because thats what somebody is advertising it for its the market value.
What you will establish is they will be for sale for months and months.
IMO they're not worth that & i'm a fan having owned one twice.
I'd get a proper one for similar or same money a "930".

But in a similar thread Crimp you said your Supersport was better to drive! Just because thats what somebody is advertising it for its the market value.

Love my Supersport and it is very rewarding to drive, sounds superb, looks great. I get excited at the thought of dragging it out of the garage for a drive and find myself checking the weather at the moment looking for a chance that I can.

I don't quite see how they can be described as "pretty dire" to drive and can't imagine that they are that different to a narrow body 3.2 or other models of the era.
I find mine perfectly comfortable, fast and exciting and compared to a modern 911, engaging and an event at non license loosing speeds. It is one of the easiest cars to drive and feels well planted and balanced.

As i said i like supersports they are great to look at & if priced correctly great to behold.
930's are a bit of a handful, and the pendulum effect is more apparent coupled with the on off boost, hence my comments many moons ago on preferring the SSE to drive
That said having owned a 5 speed 930 and an SSE, if somebody said if i could go back which you'd prefer to "own" i'd go 930 as its classic and an icon, the SSE is always going to be a bit of wannabee to its big brother
If i had the space they are great for a base as yourself & Graemel have done and produce your own little project.

Sorry, I was probably being a bit harsh when I said pretty dire to drive, but I did say IMHO, and for an older car, it is probably pretty good, but I still think there is no comparison of cars from that era to the present.
I'm afraid there's no way I would have described my old Supersport as fast or exciting to drive, but that's only in my opinion, and what do I know.
One thing for sure, they do look good, especially like the one above with the ducktail.
Everyone to their own I guess.

The Supersport seems to be a bit of a 'marmite' car. Lot of people don't like them, but some do. I'm in the don't category, but that's purely personal.
They are a marmite car for sure, i know they are not that popular on the IB site. The SSE is a sheep in period wolfs clothing, its a Carrera at the end of the day that's had lot of fatty foods thus its slow not very "pointy" and i just don't see the point.
The prices advertised on here are probably for special cars, but 30k+ for a fat carrera come on, because we have seen a slight uplift in Turbo prices (nice ones) its obvious that a lot of chancers are trying it on.
A nice 3.2c same condition no daft ugly spoiler's is far a prettier proposition, quicker and more of a classic and most are priced correctly

Interesting as the C4S of the 996 world seems to the car to have and that best holds its value (ignoring the GT and turbo cars), which is just a modern version of the Supersport but with even heavier 4WD.
Yes, but you can use a C4S 996 for a every day drive. I don't think the same apply's for the supersport.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

As you say though each to their own. IMHO they have a character that the modern cars have left long behind.
