Drive over some sleeping policemen fast enough to jar the fuel level hardware free. But do not hit the bumps hard enough to damage the suspension/steering or bang the bottom the car on the speed bump. But maybe the cause of the symptom is not the fuel level hardware is jammed.
Really your best bet is to take the car someplace and have the cause diagnosed -- it could the system is worn out, broken, or a fuel/vapor line has come loose and is interfering with the fuel level hardware, or it could be electric/electronic -- and have the problem fixed.
Then you can continue to ease over the sleeping policemen.
Same thing happened to me in my 996 can't believe this is still an issue!!
I argued with Tesco's for about 1/2 an hour saying no, there is something wrong with your pump, it can't possibly be my PORSCHE at fault!
I won the argument, got my £70 refunded, drove to another petrol station and couldn't eek another litre into it...
V. embarassing.. LOL

Mine didn't do it until it was ten years old. But it's done it a couple of times now. I reckon you just fill it right up and in due course it will work out that there's plenty of fuel in it.
Would you believe it ? it has just done it again! The gauge says empty but is brimful!
I’ll just drive it around a bit and see if it fixes itself or it is a problem for the next service. It’s driving fine, just thinks there’s no fuel!!!
