Hi everyone,

Just bought a Turbo and obviously keen to use it as much as possible, weekends being the prime time for me. With all of this forecast snow this weekend, I'm wondering what my best bet is?

1) Use the Turbo and its 4wd, albeit without winter tyres
2) Use the wife's VW Golf Mk5 with 15" wheels, without winter tyres

Am I being an idiot using the Turbo over the VW - what would you do given the circumstances ie are the risks worth taking the Turbo?!

Thanks

How comfortable do you feel with all your fellow drivers around you, most probably also with the wrong tyres for the conditions ??
Personally I'd be taking the Golf.

Buy a set of winter tyres for the Golf for what, £200 all in? Cheaper than one tyre for the 997T, the correct thing for the conditions and whilst they're on the summer tyres aren't being used (so unless you're disposing of the car imminently the net cost will be close to nil). smile

That's a good way of looking at it, thanks

Agree, winter tyres for the golf, but I'd jump at the chance to take the turbo out in some quite area's to understand how it behaves in low grip at low speed... ;-)

back in 2010 in London, I woke up an saw the snow, tube or 997.2S? The Porsche had to have a run to work, getting stuck on the A40 for a hour trying to get up a hill wasn't fun, but the journey to work was a great laugh!
