What do you plan to use the car for?

Other than that, 130k of motorway miles is alot less stress on the engine/transmission than 60k miles in city traffic. That said, the suspension and some other running components are likely to be getting tired after that amount of work. More details of the recent 10k bill would be useful to get an idea of what has been replaced recently.

Keep us posted, the stock factory cars are not slow. This will without doubt go like a rocket...!

Would the previous owner go to all the trouble and expense of modifying the car simply to drive up and down the motorway ?

Would someone spend 10k 2 months ago, possibly fixing something, then suddenly flog it on unless something equally expensive also happened to need doing?

It does happen. What's for certain is that we'll never know that by guessing. I'd suggest an HPi check and then a thorough inspection (thereby removing guesswork) - could be a real bargain.

Won't cost of ownership be greater - not taking running repairs/ worn bits in to account.

Or putting 30k on this takes it from 130 to 160k miles.. So what?

Edit to add: bear in mind that cayenne from not long back with 200k+ sold for around £7,000.

A large part of that could be the cost of the mods.

130K miles is not horrible. My 03 Turbo has 103K miles and runs just fine. Orignal clutch too.

There is a 996 Turbo (S I think) that has over 350K miles and the engine has never been touched.

But always a thorough test ride/drive is a must.

What I see is the fender bumper cover and front trunk lid colors appear to not match...No view of the left hand side rear quarter panel either. That much car deserves more pics and possibly even xrays...

And those mods... If that thing hasn't been tracked I'll eat it with a spoon. (J/K!).

But seriously those mods for a street driven car given the number of speed cameras and such in the UK?...

With that plate I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner wasn't Storm Developments. I looked at a yellow car albeit lot less mileage but very similar spec, BBS wheels lowered, sports exhaust and 600bhp kit previously owned by them last year.

To be honest that car didn't feel like 600 bhp and they don't have a brilliant reputation, did some digging.

The one I looked at had been the Md's personal car.

Ask who the £10k invoice is from smile

Disagree with you there quite a bit about your suggestions of track use and regarding speed cameras!

I live in the 3rd largest county in the UK with over 4784 miles of road, and guess how many speed cameras we have?

6. Yes, 6.

There are heaps of ridiculous cars and bikes round here that get used in anger on the public roads week in, week out, that have never seen a track day.

My friend who lives near me has a 600+bhp 996TT and it regularly gets a damn good spanking on the public highway, as do most of the other 'big power' cars round here.

I'm afraid I just don't buy the theory that if a car has been modded in such a fashion then it's clearly for track use.

Ok. So there are places where speed cams are scarce.

I've never driven in the UK but the car/bike mags I read published there always talk about if not speed cams the ever presence or possible presence of police with traffic law (read speed limit) enforcement as their seemingly only law enforcement task.

And even if the car has not been tracked the mods suggest the car has been driven hard. It may have received TLC but still. No way someone's going to spend that kind of money on those kinds of mods to not enjoy the mods. Even if it is the run to a grocery store and back on Saturday.

Even so, the car may be a fine car but the OP needs to be as sure of that as he can be.

Good value I'd say; the 997 turbo has been round long enough for potential owners to have a fair idea of running costs, and there's no reason why this car should be any different.

It is - I'm seriously considering it but few things put me off. All the invoices are from Storm, I run my own firm and could easily produce invoices for work that hasn't been done. Can u PM me what u found pls when digging?
