My gut feel is that the price is a bit 'toppy' for a 80K miler, but then again the market is strong.
Thoughts?

The market is full of 993s that never sell & many garages have cars on sale or return, happy to sit & wait for that one punter to pay over the odds IMHOThoughts?
That said it looks nice in the photos & the spec is nice. I'd be more concerned about what's been refreshed at that age/mileage though. 993s on saggy old suspension are not very nice.

Reasonably priced then in your opinion? - assuming the car has had some work to keep it fresh...That said it looks nice in the photos & the spec is nice. I'd be more concerned about what's been refreshed at that age/mileage though. 993s on saggy old suspension are not very nice.

The price is about right. If its as nice a car as the description suggests you will struggle to buy one for less from a respected retailer. (whether the suspension has been done or not)http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-for-sale/911/993...

12k miles and year warranty might be useful.
Also looks like a an expensive brake upgrade. The 2s did not come with reds as standard.
If you want a nice 2s, and you want the comfort of a respected specialist retailer this price is that you can expect to pay.
If you dont want an S, you can trim your budget by 8 - 10k for a decent 993 NB.
I have a metalic black 2s and its my daily driver. Every journey is an event and I would not change it for anytthing.
I had a very nice black 993 C2S for a while, prior to that I had a 964 Celebration. Both cars were used for a while as daily drivers, a mistake as I became so bored of them. The 993 then became a weekend car, used for early morning drives and Goodwood meets. Again, I was totally underwhelmed. Driving down in convoys with other fast cars, I used to arrive at Goodwood feeling somewhat perplexed.
However, I knew had a car which was depreciation proof motoring, that was the saving grace. Until I could take it no longer and sold the 993. Looking back on both cars, I'd have the 964 again, no doubt.
Having spoken to a few 993 owners (note, a few, this does not mean everyone), this is the predicament they find themselves in. They'll happily talk a good game on internet forums, continuously lauding the "last of the line air-cooled" stuff, "control weights" etc etc, but the truth is they are stuck. They'd love to buy other cars, life's too short etc, but they're stuck. Depreciation terrifies them.

Id take the 964 out of those two any day of the weekHowever, I knew had a car which was depreciation proof motoring, that was the saving grace. Until I could take it no longer and sold the 993. Looking back on both cars, I'd have the 964 again, no doubt.

I haven't read all the detail of the advertisement but I retailed a highly comparable car 2 years ago. A 1997 zenith blue car with blue carpets and marble leather, optioned with aircon and 18s (as most were) and with 83k on the clock, having recently had OPC suspension replacement and a clutch, and a new set of SO-2's. I had Unit 11 (air cooled experts) go through everything mechanically and repair and refresh as necessary (service, and from memory front main seal leak, gear selector input shaft seal, brake discs & pads, brake fluid change etc) and had some paintwork done (including replacing the Porsche-supplied PTFE/clear tape under the front screen seal), such that the car was pretty much perfect. I put it up at a sensible price of £29,990 which it sold for. A more high profile seller could have perhaps asked a grand or two more but the car would've been the same - I think at the time it looked like 911V would have asked the same money as I did but as their bug price, whereas mine was equivalent to their full retail price proposition. Prices may have risen very slightly in the last 2 years but that would still leave this one looking a bit over the top IMO.
Still over priced in my humble opinion but a much better prospect (for me) should expensive 993s tickle your pickle....

The problem with the car the OP posted (again in my humble opinion) is the uk's daft fixation on mileage. Yes I know it's a load of bull but it's there all the same.
I want a 993 for weekend trips up to Scotland & summer blasts down to the south of France/alps etc. bang 20k miles on the OP car & it will be a 100k miler that people wint want.
Bang 40k miles on the Browns car & it's only fell to the level of the other one.
Which kind of proves the point about getting worried by depreciation above! But still makes the browns car better value (of two over priced cars
)

)It'll probably turn out to be a good buy. See how 964s and earlier 911s have appreciated recently and many will remember a time when 356s were very cheap - I recently saw one at Paragon asking £95,000, the list goes on, but I am convinced all 993s are a bit undervalued at the moment; I think they combine the best of classic build quality and driving experience with modern day performance.

personal taste doesn't really come into though, its personal preference after all, the same as whether you find one car good value or over priced. arena red was good enough for porsche to use as the launch colour for the 993 turbo btw

ha yes thats been mentioned before. Then again originality was never your thing ;-0

I doubt you would be able to buy such a car for £30k today - never mind mark it up and retail said automobile.I'm not a 993 owner at the moment, but I would def buy that car at this level. Very rare spec and looks really nice: dark color does make it look phat! Love that rear!
And I would not think twice, even if given the choice against a 997 instead!
IMO rightly priced and should find a buyer within the next 2-3months max.
