I picked up my 996 C4 Cab and thrilled to bits. First ever Porsche after 25 years of dreaming.

I'm thinking of getting the Paragon warranty, I want the security of the thing going bang!

There are lots of articles on here about different warranties but has anyone used Paragon and do they cover bore scoring etc?

Why not put money aside instead of fork out for a warranty? Chances are it won't go boom :-)

I was thinking that but with a wedding coming up in April I can see it getting swallowed by that. The thought of a £5k new engine is a worrying factor but I'm hopeful that for a 12 year old car and 60,000 miles that it would have gone by now if it was going to go at all!

Congrats Ciaran,
get some pics up!

We've just found a pre-facelift 996 with aerokit for my mate. It's an absolute peach and a real lucky find.

Good luck with yours and you've definitely done the right thing buying before the wedding.
I bought my GT3 last Sep, then got married in Nov. I've been skint since and still have the honeymoon to pay for yet but at least I have the car. It's better than not being able to buy it in the first place due to having no money left. smile

Maybe take the warranty for a year whilst you get to know the car?

I have used Paragon since my new in 07 997 was two years old. No problems at all, a good team to deal with. Even since I moved 150 miles away I still take the car back every year.

Cheers Marky,
Thankfully the missus saw my way of thinking - although not sure she'll say the same when it comes to adding extras for the wedding.

Thanks for this. Really good tip and I think I'm going to take a year warranty until I'm more familiar with the car. Have just taken it to Brighton for the weekend so good to get it out for a decent drive.
