911 man maths wins the day!
Discussion
well I've been toying with getting back into a 911, 10 years after shifting to a Cayenne for practical reasons.
been looking at a second car for weekends and fair weather and set a £20-25 budget, so toyed with early 997s or a 996C4S. After spending too much time on here lurking and a couple of chats with Northways (service the cayenne) also included the idea of a 996 Turbo based on the engine strength and the possibility of a rebuild on one of the others; and screw it, i've never had a turbo so that box needed ticking at some point.
well after a lot of justification to SWMBO, i've ended up putting a deposit down on the 2005 996 Turbo cab at 911V after missing a 996C4S by 10 minutes!! man maths dictated that the low mileage, OPC warranty and good spec & colour scheme made sense and the budget went a few grand the wrong way. Hadn't thought about the Cab, but as it is a second car I'd no intention of it seeing the worst of the weather whatever it was, so a Cab gives me a bit of sunshine time too.
will probably be on here with 101 questions over the next few months, just trying to decide if I sell a couple of watches to offset the extra costs. any easy Ipod connect suggestions or do I need OPC to do it because of the warranty? (100 to go!) - Cayenne has it hard wired instead of the cd changer, but that was a few years ago and things might have changed.

and they are so irritatingly pleasant & easy to deal with too!

they had plenty of lovely metal in there tbh but I'd gone to look at a couple in particular. as most were under 5" of snow and it was about -4 I was happy to look at 'my' one as it was indoors
!
also, being a bit soft and lazy the more specialist stuff pretty much passes me by; after 9 years of air suspension in the Cayenne on relatively small 18" rims; the turbo is about as hardcore as I could consider....
(Jeez, that makes me sound so bloody middle aged - and as I hit 45 next month I suppose I am!)
