Very easy to remove them with the help of a hairdryer - warming vinyl helps the removal process.

Any residue left can be removed with white spirit or similar.

I would have thought design911 or similar would supply new ones, if not your local OPC will do so albeit at an inflated cost.

Yes the use of heat is vital for the removal process.

If its the ones at the rear wheel simply warm-up and gently peel it from the car, I changed the drivers side on mine if I remember it was around £18 from the OPC,

Fitting the new one is dead easy make sure the paint is clean then spray some soapy water on the car and place the new film on move it around to the correct position (it will do this no problem as its sitting on a skin of water) then using a credit card or similar piece of plastic work from the centre till the water has been squeezed out, the adhesive on the film will now stick to the car.

£200???? For two pieces of vinyl taken from a standard cutting pattern? I suppose it was special non-warranty voiding film. wink

If you want to use Ventureshield for the replacement, PM me and I'll put you in touch with someone who did my Cayman R. He did an excellent job and as he didn't have a cutting pattern for the R, took measurements from my vehicle. I had half bonnet, front spoiler, lip, front arches and mirrors done for £600.

Oh, and to remove it, use a hot air gun but be very careful about how far away you have it and the temperature setting you've got the gun running on. Be patient, don't rush it.

Also remember that if you apply using water (with either a dash of Fairy or meths in the mixture) you should really leave it overnight for the vinyl to adhere to the car and any water residue under the film to dry and evaporate.

The colder the weather the colder the metal, the colder the vinyl the less is applies and so on.

In the warmth of a summers day you could probably applying the morning and drive to Tesco in the morning. On a cold winters day I'd apply and leave overnight (and in a garage if possible) just to be sure. In fact if you're applying outside I wouldn't apply on a cold day full stop.

It probably won't be a problem but if you take your pride and joy out for a blast immediately after application and an edge lifts slightly you'll get dirt under the edge of the film and it will never stick again.

We used to supply BSM with their car decals and they couldn't get their head around the fact you can't apply decals to a frozen car in the morning and expect them to stay on whilst on a transporter that afternoon!

A couple of months ago Porsche changed the quality of the Vinyl and my bodyshop spoilt 2 vinyls as the quality was so poor
BUT when we used Johnsons Baby shampoo instead of fairy liquid they went on a lot better
WIth the Vinyls at £30 ish, £4 for a bottle of shampoo might save a lot of grief

I've replaced a few sets of these protectors on customers 911's in the last few months and used Ventureshield everytime. From memory I think we were about £45/50 for a 997 rear set which wasn't too bad.

I've just made my own custom film pieces to protect the arch lips/inside of the bumper/sideskirts etc on my GT3 using some universal Venture Shield, the film is really good quality and you have to look very hard to even notice it's there:
