Porsche club GB are organising 911x 911's to parade at Silverstone on July 28th (A world record attempt!). Is anyone else attending? While the event is organised by PCGB I don't believe you have to be a member to register. I can post more details if people are interested.......... ?

You might struggle to set a good lap time.

This is being held during the PCGB National Event, you need to register your interest at Silverstone911@porscheclubgb.com and include your PCGB membership no.

No PCGB membership (£70 a year) needed to participate. See the Silverstone Classic website or call them to book

Can't see where to register. This link says you need to belong to a registered car club...

Any thoughts?

My names is down too. (I'm a PCGB member)

I don't think that necessarily means I'll be invited to attend though. I'm sure they'll be inundated with applicants. They may want to choose a wide spectrum of 911s as a kind of historical (record breaking) display. It'll be great fun, as was the record broken by the most Ferraris on track at Silverstone last year was.

AMG Merc: Despite PCGB wanting to put their usual gold plated veneer on everything you can register and buy tickets without submitting any car club details. Just follow the website selecting tickets etc.

You can buy tickets for Silverstone Classic, but you won't get your car into the PGCB display/parking area or on the PGCB organised lap without being a member. And nor should you.

Conflicting info. PCGB & Silverstone classic state anyone with a 911 can register. Why the PCGB snobbishness?

Why do you consider that a club excluding non-members from its activities snobbery?

I apologise if it sounded snobbish,it wasn't intended to be.

I simply think that if you want to participate in a PCGB (or any other car club event) then you should pay the subs and become a member, otherwise there's no point in being a member or having a club

No problem, no offence taken Paul.

While PCGB tend to get bad press, I've been a member for nearly 20 years and from what I read the subscription rate is increasing considerably which would go against the general opinion!
