Discoloured Stone Guards on White Boxsters (or 911s)

Has anyone had any issues with the stone guards which run along the sides of the cars (a bumpy gel like material) becoming discoloured and have they been repaired under warranty? I saw something on another forum but it was a couple of years old. Much help appreciated as my OPC is saying it's not a warranty thing if they discolour, even if you have only done 4,000 dry miles.

Any help much appreciated.
