Yes i did baulk a bit of the price but then lets look at whats on offer.
New Porsche for you to drive so its not going to be a Turbo or GT3 but most likely a 991 or Boxster.
Its during June etc so nice weather.....but then it is Scotland so that maybe hoping for much.
The hotels you are staying in are not too shabby.
I dont think you will pay for fuel so thats hopefully included.
The big outlay for Porsche will be Insurance so that will have to be included in the price or at least contribution
Lunches as well wont be in a Maccy D drive through
And then all the little add ons like luggage on arrival at the hotel each day.
So actually its not that bad.
Of course i could load up my C4S, jam 5 days worth of luggage into the boot, plan a route and then get lost using either the PCM2 satnav or missus (both of which are the same poor standard!), indeed eat in Maccy D's for lunch but splash out on Fish and Chips for dinner and pour money...sorry fuel into the car along the way.

At that price, I would expect a 4.0 RS and a CGT!

And coke and hookers on tap!
I am slightly nervous now, Porsche Bolton are lending me a 981 Boxster on Thursday for a couple of days whilst they fettle the Spyder - hope its not 1000 euros a day!!

But I've managed to get two weeks in Oregon, Yosemite, Hollywood and Santa Barbara, with all internal and trans-Atlantic flights, nice hotels with breakfast and about 8 days of a big Yank 4x4 hire, for less than that Scotland tour.

And that's for 4 of us!

They used to say which cars were available - most tours were 997s. Not sure who pays for petrol.

And it says that's based on 2 people per car, so for your €7k you're only going to be driving for half the week !

€5,990 each for a couple. So over £10k for the week. Cripes.

I managed 2 weeks in Rocky Mountain NP, Badlands, Keystone, Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Arches, Canyonlands in a V8 Mustang incl flights for £5k for 2 people.....

So this is a major rip-off for the gullible.

Off there this weekend so no need to organise!

Funnily enough I was in Manchester a few months ago near that bloody awful area - The Printworks, when this young merry chap walked past my 996 with a couple of girls. He stopped and looked straight and the car and I thought oh god here we go - when suddenly he erm bent over and kissed the badge on the car bonnet, gave me a thumbs up then walked off.

I didn't see that coming!

I remember sneaking a look at this in a meeting yesterday and reacting a little too obviously.

They were doing 991s in South Africa for not dissimilar money and for about 4/5 days. I could see how that could be justified in some minds but for a nominal amount of work, you could hire a 911 in Scotland and do the drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh and pocket 80% of that cost.

So you could pick up a 911 Carrera from Avis at Newcastle Airport on 21st June for 8 days for £2087 (approx Eu2600?) and spend Eu1000 per night on a double room and have change!
