Vanilla 996 Turbo or give it some steroids
Discussion
Well as you know i parted company with the widow maker back end of last year after fulfilling my dream of owning and experiencing the brute, awesome car.
It was soon established that practicality aside i wasn't an experienced enough driver to tame the beast so after long sleepless nights decided to move it on, pretty as they are.
Anyway thats water under the bridge. I decided for my 10th 911 to get another 996 Turbo, yeah its a bit sanitised in areas, yeah its a bit quiet, but boy they are still very very quick and lets face it they do everything very well, probably too well which brings me on to my issue.
I spotted my car at 911v met Tom liked him and the car, gots some "bits and bobs" attended to and we did the deal, very smooth and he delivered the car personally to my house (Sheffield) good service & highly recommended.
My plan was to get an early well sorted manual car at good value with low miles if possible, this ticked the boxes having had 8k of work by Ken at 9E, new turbo's etc etc. Then get an exhaust with some bark and have the engine sorted probably aim for 650 BHP which as you know is nothing for this engine & the 6T guys on here would offer their advice/direction
Sorry for the waffle, anyway now i have the car and have driven it on numerous occasions (got it to use i hasten to add) and this weekend its had its first infamous Crimp wash & wax, i actually quite like it nice and standard it drives very very well and is epic on song. I feel it maybe a shame to molest it with all the mods. Its a low mile low owner standard car in Silver (yeah i know boring) but i actually think its suits the 6T, there's no aerokits its subtle and is in very nice order.
So what do you do keep as is or mod it????????...................
Pics below lovely thing really

Keep standard, lovely looking car btw!
The car is so fast as standard, I find the power unusable most of the time, isn't tuning to 650bhp just big number chasing ? Might turn a finely balanced, beautiful machine into something totally un drivable! ?
500BHP would be a nice figure and easily done with a remap. The car is so fast as standard, I find the power unusable most of the time, isn't tuning to 650bhp just big number chasing ? Might turn a finely balanced, beautiful machine into something totally un drivable! ?
Standard unless you are planning to Vmax or tweak it for track use I would say.
They are quick enough, in fact sometimes even too quick for normal road stuff. I would save the pennies for inevitable suspension work in the future if you are planning to keep her. A frequent geo and keep her handling characteristics tiptop are better than out and out power IMO.

Crimp I have a deal for you... All my parts from the previous 750 build is in storage with Ken at 9e. Turbos, IC, Y Pipe, fuel pump injectors, 890 Sachs clutch, exhaust etc. etc. Ken's guys fit these packages in blind now and you can cut a good deal if you like some real power.
You can run the boost controller in wet mode (400'ish), daily mode (500 - 550) and all in for track and play around (700+). My old config will give you GPS 0 - 186 MPH in 24 - 25 sec and 206 - 208 MPH on Bruntingthorpe weather dependent.
In addition, you should do 6 pots on the front. If budget allows, I would also recommend PSS10 and RSS control arms.
9e tuned 911T's are so drivable for daily use, yet blistering quick when you wanna play a little around.

Ed, For the kind of power that you want to achieve you're looking at an engine out project mate, not just a chip'n'pipe job. Not an issue in itself but it all adds to the labour cost.
The standard fuel system is the main restriction and the motor will need dropping out to replace the injectors, I'm currently just about on the limit of what can safely be achieved having never had the engine out, ie with the stock fuel system, albeit with a 5bar FPR and retaining the crappy intake pipework to the turbos.
My advice is to talk to Ken at 9e to get an idea of the cost involved to achieve each power level, have a go in that thing of mine and then decide. I've been quite lucky in that mine was an evolutionary project over a number of years and I did all the spanner work myself so never had to shell out ££££s in one go (apart from buying the Europipe!)
I'm sure you know, but bare in mind you will never get back any of the cost you put into a modifying project and you'll limit your market considerably and since you swap your car every five minutes probably worth thinking about.
Just trying to give you a balanced view kid,
Have fun and report back...

Boring standard imo..less boring than a C4s which is dull as ditch-water..get a Dms chip and pipe and enjoy what that car can really do..or get a Gt2It was soon established that practicality aside i wasn't an experienced enough driver to tame the beast so after long sleepless nights decided to move it on, pretty as they are.

Andy sounds like a plan driving yours to be honest i was probably been a bit optimistic on the horses. Probably just a map and zorst will do me, as you say i go through Pork pretty quick.
