Who is responsible for the Michelin Supersport N Rating
Discussion
Does anyone know?
Because I'd like to buy a f
king magnum and f
king shoot them in the f
king face for taking so f
king long to f
king sort this f
king s
t out!!!!
What the hell takes this long? Small companies manage to develop whole cars in this time and these muppets cant even get a damn type approval on an existing f
king tyre? What are they doing? Re-inventing the f
king wheel on tyre compounds? If they ever are f
king released I'm going to buy one and send it to a f
king lab to test against a regular super sport to see the f
king difference, and if there is none then I'm going to set myself on fire in front of the Michelin head office with a super f
king sport around my neck in protest, the f
king
s!!!!!!!!!

It's about the dough, Michelin aren't dancing to Porsche's tune, neither should you, fit them and tell them to f
k off
Absolutely. Stop giving yourself a heart attack and just fit them.

The Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone have been using them for nearly two years!
I happened to ask yesterday:
"Thank you for your enquiry about Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
"We are currently in the process of working with Porsche on the approval of these sizes.
"Unfortunately, we are not in a position to say when the approval will be obtained, as it depends on many different factors.
"Therefore we do not have any dates for when we will have the N specification tyres available."
The text was in two different fonts, so it seems just a standard fob-off pasted into the reply.
I find it odd they managed to be so quick with the Pilot Alpins.

I went with non N rated Conti Sport Contacts.. I only fitted them due to having caught a flat on Christmas eve and needing the car on the road over the holidays, they were all the tyre place had in at the time, all any tyre place had for that matter. I've been perfectly happy with them and my Indy said not to worry, he has non N tyres on his car and it's never bothered him either

If you don't fit rated tyres, does it affect your warranty or insurance...? Not heard of anything like that here in the UAE.
That is the main reason why you'd choose not to fit Pilot Super Sports in the UK - the extended warranty would be void.

One thing I did notice on the equivelent size Michelin SS compared to PS2 Nx tyres is that the loading is higher which usually means stiffer sidewalls.
I wonder what effect this has on the ride and also handling?
If Porsche ever approve the Michelin SS and make it N rated I wonder if they will specify a lower load rating e.g. 235/35/19 87Y instaed of the 91Y currently in the same size.
I did read somewhere that Porsche are working towards N rated approval but if it happens it will only be for the current models which are different sizes to superceded models e.g. wheel sizes have now increaed by 1" diameter on std. and option OEM wheels compared to predecessor

the load rating on the N rated (N0) Pirelli Corsas on the front (235/35/19) of my 7.2 GT3 is 91Y ..Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
