Invite, full day at Siverstone
Discussion
Anyone attended the full day event at Silverstone in the last few weeks? Received an invite a couple of months ago and due to attend tomorrow so was wondering what the schedule looked like. Invite was for two people, full day and get to drive the full range. I have attended the half day event before which came with the purchase of my GTS.
I assume it is the range experience?
You get to drive a huge range of cars on track/skid/road.
I went last month (in the snow) and got to drive Cayman, Boxster, 991 C2S, 991 C4, PDK and manual, Panamera diesel and petrol, Cayenne S and new diesel (AWESOME). Also go to do the Batak test.
Good food and good company.
Not such a focused time in any car - but you do get to do EVERYTHING!!

I went on this just before Xmas and was disappointed, too much hanging around and not enough proper driving.
My day consisted of ten minute drives in a number of Cayenne and Panamera models on the public roads. 15 minutes in a 991 on the track (which was good but too short) and lots of hanging around waiting to go on the ice hill and kick plate in various Boxster & Cayman models.
Lunch was very good though!

My wife and I went last year.
IIRC we had 2 x 30 minutes in 991 on the handling circuit (PDK and manual) - car and an instructor each.
Ice hill and Kick plate over an hour in 987 Cayman and 981 Boxster (we shared the car, instructors used radios to communicate with you)
3 of us + instructor went out on the road for an hour in a Cayenne hybrid
wife and I went out in a Panamera diesel for some v interesting on road tuition from an ex-police instructor - all corner cutting foot to the floor stuff on the de-restricted bits
We did the low friction circuit in a Panamera I think and had a demonstration drive round the off road bit in a tricked up Cayenne.
Came a close second on the Batak but didn't win the prize, lunch was fab, a really good fun day out.

Sorry, genuinely can't remember. It was over 30 seconds and well off the scores of the pro's. On my second go I got the highest score of the day but the prize was awarded for best first attempt.
But to be fair to you, Marjorie the one armed cleaner was the only other person to have a go that day.

nice plate Mr Tickle
Cheers

Top Batak score in 30s in our group was 40. Not sure who got the GT3 fast lap prize though.
Not a bad day, but could have done with more time in the 911's on the handling circuit. Would have preferred them to drop the basketball video and driving lesson and used that time for the Cayenne off road.

I was most impressed with the Panamera GTS, epic sound and just a tad quick.
Hmm. we had some fun in that... but in real world terms if I wanted a fat Porsche I think the Cayenne Diesel S had it all covered. ETA: The Panamera Diesel was total b
ks - why anyone would dump £70K into that I have no idea.... Spend £40K on an A7 instead!MrTickle said:

.....would have happily spent all the time in the other cars just in the Cayman.
