FAO Anyone who realistically thinks they can achieve 200mph..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

Obviously loads of you guys have highly tuned Skylines, but I wondered if any of you think you can achieve the 'magic' 200mph?

I'm Staff Writer on Redline Magazine, and we are looking to strap our Datron Microsat timing equipment onto a (small) seleciton of very fast cars at a well-known airfield next Wednesday.(BRUNTINGTHORPE )

We already have some cars confirmed, but there are places available. All results will be included in a forthcoming feature.

Anyone who considers their car to be amongst the fastest in the UK, and would like to come along next Wednesday (22nd), could they please e-mail me with a list of modifications and/or times?

Many Thanks

Daz,

I don't know about Henrys, but mine is raised to 7,150rpm, which on a GT2 raises the topspeed (as limited by gearing) to about 206 mph.

My car hit the rev-limiter in top gear easily when being tested by Ruf.

If you want to go faster than 206mph, you need the longer 6th gear, this allows RTurbos to reach 211mph to 217mph depending on their engine spec.

Guy, Henry,
After seeing the goings-on at the last Vmax, I would have thought that for you 2 fellas to pass 200 mph the organisers will need to put the timing beam further back? I thought the braking zone was rather conservative at the last Vmax. (Well, it was for my humble steed).

At the last VMax my car wasn't quite right and was down on power, so it should do better this time. Henrys car was stock last time and has now been modded, so should also do better.

As for distance you are right, I could have gone a long way further before braking, as the braking distance was very long.

Mine is raised to about the same as Guys BUT I have sadly not yet had the chance to hit the redline in 6th,I did a 316kph (196mph)with Guy as passenger but this was just before I had the mods done.
