I've got a rotten offside silencer so I'm looking at options, the Designtex exhausts are really cheap on Design911 at the moment, not that I'm necessarily trying to do anything on the cheap but I'd like to throw some money at other bits of the car if I can.
Anyone have any experience of them, build quality, sound, increase/decrease in performance etc.

I had the entire system - headers on back, on my old 997. I thought it sounded great, a bit deeper than some of the other systems, and was good value. However, the dealer I traded it in to later told me that the guy who bought it from him had to replace the silencers about 6 months later (at which point the system was still less than 3 years old) because the internals had crumbled (baffles? can't remember what he said had failed). I've never heard anyone else have similar issues, though, and it definitely seemed fine and sounded great on trade-in. Hearsay, but I think reliable hearsay...

Have been considering just the silencers or a combo of silencers and decat, I've got a friendly mapper who can ensure its running right with decat so may be worth going for it..

I've got the switchable system on my Cayman and it sounds awesome. It was fiddly to fit though and I had to move the diaphragms round so the vacuum pipes didn't rest on the exhaust itself. Very happy with it in all though.
