very like a 996 to drive, a tad more planted.

few observations:

- engine is a bit more audiable in the car

- standard sports steering wheel is a bit nasty

- gearshift is excellent in comparison with 996

- PASM is ok in standard but in sport felt to me like it made the car bounce more. Rebound seemed excessive for a UK B road blast.

- S engine felt a tad more powerful than the standard 3.6 but not massively so.

- Fit and finish of the interior is superb

- Doors have a nice clunk

- Makes the 996 look dated. New headlights, arches and especially rear spoiler are all superb

Benno, what didn'cha like about the steering wheel?

Over here we had the arrival of the 997's a few weeks ago. Agree the fit and finish and interior are great. Unfortunately I wasn't test driving. On a related note, there has finally been spotting of Ottawa's first C-GT. The guy is supposed to be tracking it and taking it to our PCA coffee runs, so I'm sure next weekend's event will be well attended.

its vinyl and not a leather centre like the 996 and has 2 types of plastic surrounding the horn push

they also had a pre producion 996 with the moulded rather than leather dash at the dealers and it looked poor in comparison

also a Carrera Gt in the showroom, first one i have seen in the flesh and its absolutely stunning

Yes, 997 does make 996 look dated, but guess how I felt when I saw my 993 today! Felt better when I got back in it & drove it though. So would you get a 997?

It would be good if they have sorted out the small noises one gets in the 996 cabin from leather / sunroof / plastic fittings etc - poor build in the cabin making noise does my nut in ! Have to have the stereo on just to avoid listening to it.
