Porsche Experience Centre - British Grand Prix

I am thinking of going to the PEC for the Grand Prix this year. Has anyone done this before and can advise me if it is worthwhile? Can you even see the track from the upper floor?

They offer hospitality, live commentary feed and a PAX lap in a Panamera. The food is top notch but I won't be drinking.

Also, is there any way I will be able to get away on the Sunday after the race to get to Birmingham Airport by 7:30p.m.?

You can see the long straight (don't know it's name) from the roof terrace.

Yep, it's next to the Hangar Straight with good views of that part of the circuit.

Top nosh and hospitality and a few nice birds walking about making sure you're ok.

If PEC are doing hospitality they should have big screens plus a limited view of the circuit. Nowhere at Silverstone is that great for viewing - BRDC suite is about the best.

WRT getting to BHX, that should be ok. However, to be sure, you could take one of the helicopter shuttles to somehere close to your en route. Unfortunately they no longer land in the infield during GP - it's now done at Turweston, next door. This is frustrating as the new Silverstone Helipad is right next to the PEC

Lots of companies do the heli-shuttle packages, and you can pay anything from £250 for a seat in an R44 (piston) to £500+ for a turbine, depending on your point of transfer. Google "Silverstone Grand Prix Helicopter".

I went to the PEC for the 2011 GP - view from the roof terrace is pretty good but your half way down a straight so don't expect much excitement. Food is pretty good and there was unlimited booze including Champagne. Recommend arriving early so that you do your driving session on the PEC track before the race, otherwise it's a dry day waiting for your session ( and they do breathalise!)

I went last year and it was very good on food, service, and viewing. I would certainly recommend it, however this year I will be sat in a good stand and the money saved will pay for the Silverstone Experience!

I was thinking of doing hospitality at the F1 this year, but it's insanely pricey, 1k for one day's racing!!!! If it had been around £500 max, but a grand is mental..... shame as the Porsche center actually looks a superb option....

i'd have to sit and drink champagne constantly all day i order to justify it, so 20 bottles of Veuve should do it...
