I've had my S2 since 1991 ( '89 model ) I'm currently spending stupid money upgrading brakes and suspension because I can't bear to part from it.

Good cars though they are, BM's are just SO common. A good condition 944 is so rare and neat - why join the common herd ?

Don't worry I've still got the S2, gone off the idea of an M5 slightly, too many horror stories of engines needing major work at around 100-125K. How often to your hear of an S2 engine needing a rebuild at that sort of mileage?
I still love driving it and for what it's worth now, it's just not worth selling. I've even considered buying a cheap 944 Turbo and making it into a track car, but lack of storage space killed that idea, currently looking for a track bike.
I'd be interested to hear what your doing with the brakes and suspension as mines about ready for a new set of dampers.

Glad to hear you're keeping the car.

My upgrades ?

Well the front calipers needed replacing and the whole suspension was very tired. So after so many 'name' specialists being too bored to quote or not taking me seriously, I drove the car to Warrington to 'Ninemeister' who are currently uprgrading the front brakes with 'big red' calipers ( 993 turbo )and drilled discs. The suspension is being slightly lowered with stiffer springs and konis all round with every bit of rubber in the suspension and steering being replaced .. they have also replaced the corroded fuel lines. Not to mention annual service and mot - about £4k's worth - I told you it was silly money !! I had just fitted new 18'' Azev wheels and new tyres so to say I'm now skint won't be a surprise to you. Looking forward to collecting the car and having fun ! In the next year or two, funds allowing I really fancy the supercharger conversion they do - watch this space.

All the best

Frank,

I see you're based in South East, I would be interested in seeing the finished result as another standard S2 owner.

I am based in Tonbridge, Kent where are you and would you mind if I had a nose at your car?

I do a few trackdays and although I usually use a Caterham I have ventured to Snetterton in the S2 and to be honest found the car too soft and no LSD is just frustrating!.

Let me know if you mind

Cheers

I have a trubo with the M030 konis, thinking of getting the Leda set up on the car next year. Chatting to the folk who have already got it, say that its the biz. And pretty good value. About the same as replacing the konis.

I'm near Thame - between Oxford and Aylesbury. I confess I am road-use only, never done a track day. More than happy for you to see the car if you wish. You can email me frank-at-fjhfinancial.co.uk or call 01844 208729. Note than I'm away for a week 21st to 28th.
