Has anyone remapped/chipped a 987 Boxster S
Discussion
Afternoon!
A company in Hainault, Essex (one of the biggest porsche parts distributors) is offering both services at quite a reasonable price (£300).
Has anyone used them and are they any good? Has anyone remapped/chipped their 987 S and if so are the claims of more horsepower, torque and better fuel comsumption accurate?
Cheers

Hi,
I ran my 2011 'S' for a year before adding a Cargraphic plenum, throttle body and ecu. It is certainly a little quicker and a little more noisy but I can't give you definite figures. It is currently having a cargrahic exhaust and manifold fitted. All done by Tech 9 in Liverpool. Give them a call .

Are you talking 3.2 or 3.4, I mapped a 2007 Cayman 3.4 to 319bhp and 273ftIbs, tested on the Surrey rolling road. Modifications were a Cat Back Miltek exhaust (takes out the one of the two cats on each cylinder bank , emissions were fine on mot) and AMD map. I have a graph somewhere of the output if of interest. Cayman just soaked up the extra power, you could feel the difference around 5000 rpm.
Remaps don't offer much, bear in mind the Porsche ECU can adapt too, your best fitting the larger plenum and throttlebody, uprated filter, highflow cats and drive the car. It will sound better and you will get more power. Then stick it on an RR and if its about 20-30BHP over stock job done, if its still making close to stock power then consider the remap to take advantage of the modifications.
remove secondary cats 1st
most cayman's / boxsters can get to 345Bhp and a bit more torque with the above mods.
the gen 2'd need manafolds, but not the gen 1's
you might find just removeing the secondary cats will be enough as it rids the cars of the nasty dead spot.
remap alone, not worth the hassle.
my throttle body is not a cup as stated, my mistake, just a 996gt3 one

mine is a 987 gen 1 so i'll look into removing the secondary cats first....i assume it will still pass the emissions tests for the MOT?
Am new to this but can you remove the secondary cats without having to replace them or will i need to put a straight through section on the space they leave??
