TPC Inactive - intermittent
Discussion
Hi
Have the above warning coming on intermittently (since I had two new front tyres fitted in December at OPC - coincidence?).
Reading on t'internet the consensus seems to be the batteries are failing in the sensors?
Does this mean all the sensors as presumably they are the same age or if not how do you know which one needs replacing?
Thanks

2nd thread in two days on this subject but not getting much interest! Have the above warning coming on intermittently (since I had two new front tyres fitted in December at OPC - coincidence?).

I guess it is wise to fit them in a set. Any idea where to buy them other than OPC?
Available in the USA for $164 a set but not sure if they are fully compatible.

OPC just quoted me £741 fitted, LOL! I guess it is wise to fit them in a set. Any idea where to buy them other than OPC?

Got a link to this set for $164 please?

Try this. If it doesn't work I am sure you can find the items on the OE WHEELS site.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
Fortunately I can change the sensors myself at home but wonder what procedure would be needed to get them recognised by the system?

Apparently Alloy Wheels Direct here in the UK do them for £336 per set not fitted.
They also say the life should be 90 or 120 months depending on the generation. I'm thinking that yours and mine would be the former. So 7.5 years max life?

Porsche when I spoke to them said they last a minimum of 4 years, mine have last nearly 6 years, so that is 72 months. They also say the life should be 90 or 120 months depending on the generation. I'm thinking that yours and mine would be the former. So 7.5 years max life?

As to them being recognised by the system, well it will just work, they are just basic 433MHz transmitters, so as long as they transmit on 433MHz the antenna will pick them up and the TPMS will just work again.

Found these:-

Will they work on my car? Is it just down to MHz value if they will work on my car as I think these are of a gen2 so might not be compatible?

Anyway, I am going to keep looking for a good source and will let you know what I find, perhaps you can do the same.

OK, it's just that when my car was about 2 YO I had the wheels off for cleaning and I put the rears back on the opposite sides. The TPMS wouldn't pick them up and the OPC had to reset in the end. I know about how the system is meant to auto acquire them but to didn't happen on that occasion.

Think I shall buy the ones you linked to from USA which work out at about £150 shipped.Anyway, I am going to keep looking for a good source and will let you know what I find, perhaps you can do the same.

The ones linked above from the USA aren't OEM. OEM are Beru not ITM!
Gibbo, I looked around for batteries/valves and £450 was the cheapest from a UK supplier. I ended up buying OE ones (Beru) for £250 delivered from the USA. My TPMS wasn't showing any low batteries but I was having new tyres fitted and my car is now six years old. I thought it was wise to do it in one go whilst the wheel/tyre was stripped down, all working fine.

Thanks for that. £250 is still much better than £450 to £700 odd. Gibbo, I looked around for batteries/valves and £450 was the cheapest from a UK supplier. $371 from tirerack with valves.
So thats 371 / 1.50 = £247, then add shipping and 20% for UK vat which is applicable for all none EU imports, so about £320 landed, so still cheaper and original same parts Porsche sell, so still not bad.
I paid exactly £249 inc P&P landed. Think I was lucky with the package not being picked up by Customs! So thats 371 / 1.50 = £247, then add shipping and 20% for UK vat which is applicable for all none EU imports, so about £320 landed, so still cheaper and original same parts Porsche sell, so still not bad.

Just checked my invoice - $77 battery/sensor, $8 valve, $49 shipping, total $389 (£249 exchange rate back in September 2012)
