My wife filled her car with petrol yesterday, this morning when she starts the car the warning light comes up saying she's low on petrol, the gauge Is now sitting on the line where it goes into the red ,and the clock has reset itself ,but all the other computer info such as the odometer is as before ..I am assuming some electrical issue ? Any ideas ?

Stuck float in the tank. Take it for an Italian Tune.

If that does not do it, a new sensor/float unit I guess.

Why would that reset the clock?

Because as he says, the float could be stuck in a particular position. May be possible to free it, maybe not without replacement.

Was the car low/empty before she put petrol in and then she only put a small amount of petrol in, ie not enough for the gauge to register it?

I think you can put £20 or maybe more in to an empty tank and it won't register?

You are thinking of 4WD 997's. They only measure the top 50%. Below that is a calculation estimate.
