My annual insurance renewal has come through, and it is the normal process of getting a high renewal value from broker (Flux), and using one of the comparison sites to reduce the premium by about 35% which Flux then beat by a couple of quid.

This year they have used a company called 'Groupama' to beat the other quotes that I got. I'd not heard of them before, but the general reviews on the web are amongst the worst I have ever seen.

Has anyone used them? I realise that the reviews will tend to be bad because it is only those that have had a negative experience that will bother to post a review, but some of the service sounds really bad.

The next best quotes are from Admiral/Elephant who also get slated so not sure I will be any better off.

Can anyone recommend an insurer who is likely to be good in the event of a claim as I would be happy to pay a bit more to have that level of confidence.

No experience of Groupama, but I insured through Porsche Insurance (Marsh I think it is?) Anyhow, decent premium and good UK based service - also insuring a Boxster

Have you tried A-Plan? They were great with me when I had my Boxster

I think Groupama are quite a large underwriter, so some people may find they're insured with them without realising it.

When I was insured through Nowell & Richards, the insurer was Groupama. I had a (fault) claim which went OK.

It took a couple of weeks before the assessor saw the car. I had transferred the registration from my 964 to my 996 turbo a couple of days before the accident (in the turbo) - and bizarrely they seemed to think they were assessing damage to the 964, which was a car they'd never insured! I resolved it with the assessor - but when it came to pay the bill at the bodyshop the same problem occurred again. It was all quite ridiculous really.

But apart from this, they sorted the car out with no problem (at a repair shop of my choice). I'd have no reason to avoid using them again.

Awful, stay clear!!

My 986 Boxster got very badly dinged in a car park.

The engineer that came to inspect it (three weeks later) checked my MOT, tyre depth, windscreen and service history, when I asked why he said it was standard with them to find a way out of paying.

I had to drive my claim all the time and had to fight like hell to get it into an approved Porsche repairer ( they were st too but that's another story!) I got away from them as soon as I could!

I'm with Porsche Insurance now, underwritten by Aviva and the premium went down with my renewal this year.

Groupama are shockingly bad, you have been warned!

I used Porsche insurance, ( Marsh) for my boxster s, and it was 500 quid! The rest of the companies were between 750 and 1000 quid!

I'm with Groupama through Flux. Had a claim last year and no hassle at all. Apart from somebody giving/selling my details to the ambulance chasing brigade!!!!

My repair was done at a Porsche approved body shop and I never saw anybody from the insurance company.

I've been with Porsche Insurance since I bought my Cayman two years ago. Every time I call I speak to the same person Laura and all my correspondence comes from her too, I'm treated like a client not just another customer and I like it.

That's encouraging, maybe they've upped their game a bit? I'm glad your experience has been good.

Hope that Groupama are Ok.
Picking up an S2000 on Sat after going through Flux for insurance and they've insured me with them.
£480 as opposed to next nearest quote of £800 odd.

Fingers crossed I don't need to find out how good/bad they are!

Was offered them with both flux and A-plan two years in a row. Eventually, i was forced to make a claim based on getting hit to the rear. They acknowledged this in written form and permitted the car to be repaired in advance, without an adjuster visiting and by an agreed body shop (one that the opc themselves would send it too). Then when the 3rd party contested that it wasn't a rear shunt but a 1/4 did it get protracted. Only after i supplied a very weighty written case did they use it to close it down and secure a non-fault settlement. That was almost 2 years after the incident.

Lazy fecks had it parked for 18 months with little progress until i made it easy for them. Not the most pro-active but perhaps seeing how they operate, i will likely not go running back.

My pet hate this, bloody insurance minefield it just does my swede in everything!.......

Well I've been surveying the market for a quote for our new arrival in March and have used the usual search engines to get a
varied array of prices basically offering the same cover.

Now I'm mid 50's with a clean licence and not using it to commute or for work and wasn't planning a tracker,so you get the picture.

Quotes vary with my usual Broker [A Plan] being the most expensive at £576 with Aviva cover followed by Aviva direct at £508 down to
Saga at £258,so obviously something to consider!.

Do I stick as is the norm with A plan and feel the warmth that if I crunch it they will fight your case and potentially remove the rain of crap
that goes with a claim or do I switch to Arriva direct, who you would like to think are trustworthy and diligent at point of claim.

Would you dare go down the Saga route at less than half the price and run the gauntlet of a potential nightmare or can someone vouch for them
to give ease of mind.

My mate is with Saga and reckons there alright but he's older in his 60's and was after some free lavender water for taking out the cover.....whistle

What I find irritating is the fact that my usual Broker will chase and chase my business and if I decide to divulge other prices with them, which to me
starts to turn the whole thing into a Dutch Auction, they will come up with a revised price based around a credit search or some other technicality.

Well thats off my chest so basically OP I think you pays your money and takes your chance but as I mentioned its a Minefield so tread carefully and if like
me try to get you insurer to guarrantee that any repairs will be undertaken only by approved Porsche repair centre's,that usually makes them twitch....

My only experience of Groupama is their long running sponsorship of single handed offshore trimaran yachts - the formula one cars of the yachting world.

Recently bought a 2002 Boxster S. Shopped around for insurance, and nobody could match Aviva on price. Including Adrian Flux - they couldn't get anywhere near the Aviva price.

What I did find interesting was the Tracker that the car came equipped with. Nobody would discount for having the Tracker. And Admiral put the price UP when I declared the Tracker. Needless to say, the Tracker has not been reactivated or changed into my name!
