I've just been looking at the X-Tool iOBD2 Wi-Fi reader that gives you all your engine running information and diagnostic readouts via Wi-Fi to your iPhone.

I was just wondering if anyone has one or has used one on a Cayman or 911?

Does anyone know if there are any compatability issues?

Cheers for any advice or information.

Not this specific reader, but I did pick up an odbII bluetooth reader off fleabay that once paired up to the phone, I run with the Torque Android app.

Fun to see the data values in real time (and shocking to see how wildly off the dash coolant temp is) but I don't think it recognises Porsche (Bosch) ecu's correctly since I cannot get the fault data.

Anything more and you'll likely need to consider the durametrics.

Cool, I reckon I'll give it a go.

Does the temp gauge read lower or higher than actual temp? I knew the gauge was buffered but I didn't realise they were wildly out!?

I bought 1 after a recent porsche mag write up. Have yet to test though, iphone app looks pretty user friendly too.

laugh TBH can't remember the characteristics in full but yes buffered is the best way of putting it. Was surprised to see the ECU data rising while the needle remained still at 12 o'clock and must admit was worrying at first!

I wonder is this, or a version of it, will work on a Cayman - I'll get back to you.

Limited to very early Boxstersand 996 cars. This feature isn't present in my 02 Boxster.

I believe that it works on anything before the MOST bus came in (on the 911 that was up to the MY03 996, not positive about the Boxster).
