can any 981 owners or other Porsche owners recommend me an insurance company...
I've tried the usual online confused.com places, whilst good value (£551 my best quote) i'm concerned about how they handle claims, i.e. they make you take the car to some s
tty garage for repair and generally jump though hoops in the event of a claim
i'm looking for a new for old type policy, somewhere that's not going to fob me off with the "we don't cover your optional extras" line - not when there's £17k of extras to include!
I've tried Bridle, as i wanted the trackday cover, however they can't include the trackday cover if your commuting (which is weird!) their quote £699, but they want me to activate the tracker, i'm waiting on a price for this from OPC.
I've tried Porsche's own insurance £950, but with no tracker and 2 trackdays per year
any other recommendations? i'm waiting for a call back from A-Plan - is Flux worth a try? I've read some bad stories about them on tinterweb

Pete - just a thought are you a PCGB member as after many quotes I was advised by dealer to try Porsche themselves for my 981S. To be honest I thought that would be a waste of time due to word "Porsche"! They matched all criteria with others and with 2 trackdays/foreign travel/6000ml.limit came out at £268. I was previously paying £320 for 12 year old 986 "S"! It seems club members have good record and low claims and therefore reflected in premiums. Can't grumble!! Obviously there are many factors such as age, record and location that might have affected my premium.
I have always found A-Plan to be comoetitive, and have used them twice in the last 4 years. However, just because you have a specialist motor, dont exclude the mainstream. This year and last my cheapest quotes on a Cayman S were from Admiral. I have also found their customer service and claims handling to be excellent. I had to handle two claims for my wife's beamer (including a write-off claim after the summer floods) and both times they were quick, efficient, and settled without quibble.
At the very least you should punch in your details to www.comparethemarket.com and see what comes up. You can always use the prices you find as a bargaining point when negotiating with your chosen broker.

i'm not a PCGB member, i assume the "Porsche" insurance is the same as who i've already spoken to as recommended by my OPC? she didn't ask if i was a PCGB member thoughsnapper65 said:

i was insured with admiral on my 997 under multicar, they aren't one of the more competitive ones on the 981 unfortunately At the very least you should punch in your details to www.comparethemarket.com and see what comes up. On the downside of Admiral, my multicar renewal was quite steep this year. I spent two hours plugging in all the data for three cars and four drivers (two under 21) into the comparethemarket.com and got quotes - all three cars individually were cheapest with Admiral and the sum total of the individual quotes was £750 less than my muticar renewal. I phoned and asked for an explanation - in the end they matched the online quotes and then added the muticar discount, so i total I saved £880. It was boring and bloody tedious work, but if I earned £440/hour in the day job I'd be more than happy

yep exactly the same with me, though they weren't interesting in price matching, i'm not happy with the way they view options as modifications, then charge your extra, then declare they won't cover them anyway
OP,
As I mentioned on the other 981 thread it is a minefield out there.
I've tried Flux on umteen occasions and just can't seem to gel with their ways, let alone their Buck Rogers phone system.....please Mr Flux let
a human answer the initial calls rather than a machine.
A Plan, who cover our Range Rover are always reliable and no doubt responsive and diligent in a claim situation but on this occasion we might try Saga when
our 981 finally gets on the road.
The Saga policy seems to tick the same boxes that our A Plan quotation covered but at sub £300 rather than £576 ish if my memory serves me right.
I think with most "Compare" site company policies the repairer is that which appears on their Approved list and is unlikely to be a brand authorised or franchised
repairer.I recently challenged this Approved List statement and requested the Repairers for my areas regarding LR,where I was given I wouldn't frankly take a push bike....
In a nut shell take a look at Saga and if like us you feel comfortable with it fine, but if you have any concerns go to A Plan for peace of mind..

Insurance eh? I too, tried an over 50s insurance company and they quoted £850 a month for my 991! That's £9600 (roughly rounded up) for the year and I've got 17 years NC. Fortunately I tried confused.com and Axa came up with £590 for the year. And that's cheaper than my previous Boxster was.
