Paintwork decision....
Discussion
Hi, first post so please bear with me.....
Wanted a Porsche ever since I was in nappies & purchased a 2002 facelift 3.2 Boxster S early in January.
I love the car but have a few 'niggles' which are really detracting from the ownership experience, don't know if I'm more frustrated at the car or the fact that I didn't notice them when buying.
So, I've got some paintwork imperfections & I'm a bit anal when it comes to the condition of my cars so ideally I'd like to sort them out:
- the boot lid has obviously seen some paint at some stage as someone decided it was good practice to mask up the Boxster badge & now lacquer is peeling back a bit
- some minor imperfections in both rear wings near the lights
- slight indentation in rear bumper (minor & I was aware when I bought the car), however leading edge of bumper behind rear wheels marked & looks dirty all the time - cant seem to shift it.
Options I've got are:
- repaint boot lid, rear bumper with blend into rear panels, been quoted approx £750 for this from a decent paintshop
- have car detailed with boot wet sanded to remove lacquer peel - cost of £400 ish
What are people's thoughts? Struggling to make a decision....
Thanks,
Colin

Welcome. If that £400 is for a full vehicle detail as well as flat and polishing the blemishes then it's reasonable, but if it's just to do the blemishes then it sounds a bit dear. It's so difficult to say without having seen the car but I think if it fitted in with the bodyshop's advice I' d be tempted to buy a new badge, remove the old one, have it all polished and then put the new one on.
Thanks for your replies.
I agree, it must have taken more time & cost more in labour to mask up than to remove it & put a new badge on! Real shoddy job if you ask me....
Rear end bang? No, I'm fairly confident that it is just cosmetic. The car has seen a bit of paint for sure but I'm confident that it is nothing more than just cosmetic. The boot lid has been repaired I believe due to someone shutting something too tall in it - on the inside of the lid there is some evidence of dent repairs.
