Well I've been to a launch and came away - slightly underwhelmed. True it was difficult to see the exterior for all the Superdry clad devotees milling around, but it didn't look that different from the old one - apart from the rear light/spoiler affair which try as I might I couldn't love. The interior was nice, but perhaps a bit too nice. Sanitised, like a Stepford car. I know these things are entirely subjective, but I rather like the 'old school Porsche' look.

Driving one would be the true test, but the sales chap doubted it would be better than the R he sold me at the end of 2011. However I suspect that, if not better than the R, the new S is likely to be as good, which shows how they have upped the ante. Interestingly he admitted (as many on here have posited) that the 991 was a concious decision by Porsche to move the 911 up to a GT car and that the Cayman is being developed as 'the driver's car, the sports car'. Might have been salesman's hyperbole of course, but would explain why they are not worried by the press claiming that the 981C is stealing the 911's crown.

Strange because a lot of 987 Boxster owners "wouldn't upgrade" either, they also have a list of gripes.... The common theme seems to be non 986/7 owners think the 981 generation is the best yet!

You reckon the last cayman is old school Porsche? Wow, I feel old!

Oh and don't listen to salesmen. Really.
