Electric window oddity!
Discussion
For some reason, my drivers side window on the Cayman R is behaving oddly. When I press the rocker down, the window drops until I release (say half way), but if I then press the rocker up, the window continues down to the bottom (full open position), at which point I have to press the rocker up again to close it, and I have to hold it each time, it doesn't seem to like a 'click once' approach.
Any ideas if I can reprogramme it, or is it a job for the OPC?
The passenger side is absolutely fine.

Weird window behavior can be a sign of water in the door. Give the door a shake and listen for any water sloshing. Check the bottom of the door and the carpets for any signs of dampness.Any ideas if I can reprogramme it, or is it a job for the OPC?

Thanks for the suggestion but the door and floor is as dry as a bone, plus the car is under cover and never used in the wet really, so other than washing it, I can't see this being the issue. Maybe just programmed incorrectly, I don't know!Wheeler hogs - let me know what they say.
When my window regulator snapped and I was trying to coax the window closed, I had this behaviour - it would sometimes work in the opposite direction to the switch.
I think you'd probably have more obvious problems if your regulator had failed - but the regulator would still be my suspect.

I had a similar problem on my 996 just after Christmas. The problem seemed to manifest itself soon after having the door membrane replaced which I was suspicious about. Took it back to my OPC who claim that none of the electrics would have been touched when doing that job. They tried resetting it to no avail. Generally it seems to be caused by either a faulty regulator or window motor. In my case it was the window motor that needed to be replaced. Neither the regulator or motor is a cheap fix!

Regulator was £150 (part only) for my 996 turbo - it's common with the Boxster I believe, so assume it would be with the Cayman too? Fairly easy DIY if you're used to doing stuff with the car. Motor would be the same process, but don't know the cost of the part.MDian said:

It is probably a coding issue. In each door control module there are coding options for "Comfort Open" and "Comfort Close". Sounds like the Comfort Open option on the driver;s door isn't activated.Any ideas if I can reprogramme it, or is it a job for the OPC?

Anyone with a PIWIS tester can re-code it for you. If you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berks) I would be happy to do it for you.
Something to do with resistance apparently; safety measure to prevent your arm getting stuck.
Supposedly, all Gen 2 Turbo's had ever so slightly warped windows so Reading tell the techs to replace the glass whenever this issue arises. Next step is to replace the seal.
Lots of silly faults appear to happen, so I agree, it will most likely persist!
