I have a Cayman R, why bother wink

I see no incentive to buy, and I doubt any OPC is going to give that good a trade in value either.

I placed my order in November and have a March build.

2.7 Black with Carrera Classics and a few other bits adding to mid £40K..... same price a diesel BMW 3 series, but a lot more interesting!!!

I imagine they will be flying out the doors after all the great reviews they have had, but the official launches are only just happening and maybe ( like me ) people are waiting to actually see it in the flesh before placing an order or comparing it to an "R".... ?

I considered it, then realised I can get a 2008 997 Turbo with +/- 30k on the clock for the same money. I then discarded the idea and proceeded on my Turbo search....

I considered a 997 turbo then realised how much it was going to cost me over 4 years at 30K miles per annum on insurance and repairs etc.... and placed my order on the new Cayman.

I'm surprised that that would be a disincentive, it would be the much cheaper option given the way all recent Porsches are depreciating at the moment.

Good choice.

Seen one in Agate at Sheffield launch last night - It looked fantastic compared to the red and brown one.
It does show the lines of the car very well and I have never been a fan of the rear window on the cayman however it has vastly improved and the interior is in my eyes a nicer place to be than the 991.

Look at the cost of fuel when covering 30K a year....plus servicing and repairs with out a warranty...you'd be surprised....

My last Cayman cost £40K new and sold for £17K after 3 years and 80 odd thousand...I was happy with that. Look how much 996 Turbo's lost even when buying them second hand!!!!

they need the full leather option, the dash is a bit rank standard, and now it's trying to play with the big boys for comfort
it needs the £1.2k option.

think my spec was £63k

What I don't like about the gen 2 and gen 3 are the massive wheel to arch gap, the Gen 2 cars look daft 4x4 like.

Hoping they add the 20mm lower Sports option soon.

BTW the gent who bought my 2.9 Cayman px'd his 996 turbo because it was costing him £££££ to run.....out of interest, have you ever ran a 911 turbo, or are you basing your comments on dreaming through the classified section??

Also....food for thought....My mate bought a s/h 996 turbo back in the day for 40K (at the same time I bought a brand new 987 Boxster for the same) he lost 20K in ONE year and covered 3,000 miles.....plus spent huge amounts keeping it going.....I sold my Boxster 3 years later with 85,000 miles for £15,000.....who's the mug??????????

there are no mugs, you buy the car you want to drive and it drop what it drops.

I guess your mate did not want a Boxster to drive about it.

Yep, I agree. just annoys me when blokes come on here saying you could get 'X' for cheaper and you must be silly buying brand new....it really depends on circumstances and if you 'USE' the car..... :-)

Yep, those who buy used (and I'm one of them) have to show some gratitude to those who are willing to buy new... I'll have the Agate Grey one mentioned further up in a year or so please. You've chosen a good spec smile
