Porsche 911 997.2 C2S or 997.1 Turbo for Daily Driver?
Discussion
Hi all, im selling my GT3 as im unfortunately not getting the use it deserves no that i have a small family.
Im keen to stay in a manual Porsche, but want something that i can also use to commute the dalily 15 mins to the station, as well as a weekend toy.
With a budget of c£40k the best option seems to be either a Gen 2 997s C2S or Gen 1 911 Turbo.
Obviously the 997.2 C2S will offer the benefit of better spec and economy, but will lack the pace of the Turbo.
Or for £15k less there is always the Gen 1 C2S?
Can anyone offer any advise which would be the best option?
Or if there is anything else im missing?
Any info would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Hi Tom,
I have'nt had a 997.1 turbo, but have had a 996 turbo and also a 997.2 C2S. The C2S is a very quick car, especially for road use, and if it was me, I'd pick the Gen.2 C2S as it's quick enough, and will also offer cheaper running costs, unless you're really unlucky, IMHO.
Good Luck.

It really amazes me how some people manage to get up in the morning by themselves ??
Which breakfast cereal should I have this morning, I really like Sugar Puffs but maybe Weetabix will be a better option.....what do a load of people I have never met and probably have totally different dietary requirements than I have think ??
For gods sake man, get a grip and choose your own car
If it were me (not that anyone should care), I would keep the GT3 and cycle the 15 minutes to the railway station

Be a fascinating forum wouldn't it? Forget discussing your car ideas/thoughts, don't listen to opinions from people who have been there and done it.I've had a 997 C2S and now have a 997 Turbo. In terms of living with them everyday there's very little difference. However, the turbo is SO much quicker than the C2S it's a little unnerving at first. I also love the looks - much more so than the narrow body C2S. So I think you know what I would suggest!

Stuff
Maybe you've missed the point here. Perhaps OP was too subtle. I'm guessing, like me, you are not in the market for a GT3.
Actually I did get the point in that his car is now for sale.
Would love a GT3 at some point, have wanted one since I drove a 997.2 version at PEC a couple of yrs ago. Simply the best IMO.
But when I do decide to buy one, I will just buy one....not ask you lot first

Apologies OP, having a "Bored with everything" day

Good luck with the sale, sure it won't take long
