Hi everyone,

I am a neebie to Pistonheads and hope someone can offer advice on my Porsche Cayenne's air compressor issue.
I received the dreaded Air Suspension Faulty Red Warning a few days ago following on from the Orange Faulty Workshop and dedcided to get a diagnostic check from a local specialst. To my horror they have found the car needs a new air compressor pump as the relay and compresssor are burnt out. The total cost of the repair will be 1750 with the new pump and relay 1300 alone. However i have found on Ebay a seller in Germany who sells a Porsche Cayenne Compressor for 369.00.
Has anyone purchased one of these compressors?

No, but it sounds more like what one should cost. £1300? Who makes up these prices? I wouldn't think it would be rocket science to change, either.

thanks Realist123, i have emailed the seller on Ebay to see what his thoughts are as according to my local Porsche dealer, they are now up to compressor v5 which has modified pipes to fit older cars and the reason for the newer version is that their was something wrong with the old one! silly question but if i fit an older version then surely i won't need the modified pipes?

Isn't it usual for the compressor etc to burn out if an air bag has a leak ?

Hi,

Very unusual for a compressor to burnout on a Cayenne unless one of the bags has a leak and causing the compressor to over run.

We have tried one of those compressors off ebay , a customer brought one in that was supposed to be exactly the same as the porsche one fitted to the cayenne. It was slightly different and also was very noisy in operation with a lot of noise/vibration transmitted into the floor of the car. We also had to swap the mounting brackets from the old compressor to the new one as they were different too off memory.

I have some used compressors that require the pressure sensor modification, would be a load cheaper and a genuine unit.

Hi everyone,

just wanted to say a big thanks to Mike for providing the air suspension pump and along with my £35.00 suspension repair kit from Ebay, got my car back on the road and gliding over all the potholes in Glasgow!!
