Hi All,

I just noticed today when cleaning my car for the first time by hand in the past few months that there is quite a lot of rust on the front left hand wheel arch and below it. Please see attached photo.

Has anyone else had rust like this on their 997, do you think I should speak to my local porsche shop about this?

I have owned the car since 2011 and the car has a full main dealer porsche service history. I have taken the car to porsche bolton since I have owned it. They have never mentioned this to me, and it has been in the porsche garage several times over the past 2 years.

Ive looked at my service book, and the record of long-life guarantee condition report page only has one stamp, but that was in August 2012 at Bolton porsche centre.

Do you think I would need to get this repaired myself or should Porsche sort this out for me?

Thanks
Mark

Porsche.

Though lack of bodywork stamps would be a little worrying. Saying that, they must have looked her over last year to stamp it.

I Had the exact same, on both sides on my wife's boxster, apparently caused by untreated stone chips, stripped it back, couple of coats of stone chip and two coats of top coat, job done

Hi

Sorry Poster but this is not a Porsche problem but an owner issue I'm afraid.

Remember at least a weekly hand wash yourself so you can inspect stone chip damage etc - deal with it immediately - Touch up stick/Waxoyl and WD 40 are your friend during these salty winter months.

As has been stated previously a simple repair but unecessary with a little more care !

Sorry to be blunt but that's the situ with these things!

After doing lots of reading and realising porsche won't cover this, I've booked it in at a local car body shop, to have both the front arches and sills, sanded down and resprayed, and they are going to put some 3m ventureshield film on both arches to prevent this in future. Its costing £450.
