I'm serious, how many Phers would it take at €165m ( say £135 Stg )

The first question is whether it's worth that?
The second question is whether enough money can be made to run / preserve the circuits and facilities? Probably, but the current owners have ballsed it up rather nicely .... which then introduces some doubt!
The third question is what happens to the ring if another "corporate" buys it? Do we lose out? No tourist days etc??

We do a deal at £60M. Thrust me there wont be other bidders at this price. We sell off the GP Track with attached hotels for £10M ( think Porsche would buy it as the Ultimate Porsche Experience Centre, it even has snow in the winter, save all those trips to Camp 5), sell bonds to finance it.
They were 413m Euros in debt last summer according to this:

Maybe the new owner should be paid to acquire it in its current state.

somehow it all seems so odd ........ German's making a very bad investment! and then suffering all the consequences of poor cashflow and mindless strategic thinking!! so out of character.
So our German friends are not immune to such stuff ....... may be they'll ease off a bit on Greece & Cyprus before giving them another good kicking.

Surely you'd just buy the facility, close down every area that doesn't generate a profit (except the track areas) and let all the land to car manufacturers for dealerships, brand experience centers, hotels, shops etc?
Didn't even pay for parking when I went to the F1, they could start by charging for that and put up the rental price to existing businesses on the land.
Try and get some government backing by creating new jobs for a golf course or other facilities I.e. just copy Goodwood.
European Motorshow location, now that would be worth it for the moving motorshow :-)

This sounds like very bad news to me.
Would the new owners automatically receive the toll-road status that the ring currently (with local government partnership) has? Probably not. Once it is privately owned, it would be like every other track with none of the special benefits it currently has.
Any acquirer will then dismantle the various non-profitable business and sell them off, focusing on the maximum returns which is probably the manufacturer testing and motor-sport events. If the Touristenfahrten sessions were as profitable as some have suggested (not necessarily on PH), then the previous owners would have increased them, instead of reducing them(no hard evidence but that is my perception).
The biggest loses are likely to be the local restaurants, guesthouses and rental companies.

........ that is the hidden problem, they do not have a large voice and are at risk of getting trampled, yet it is them that provide a lot of the atmosphere to us visitors. Hence the large protest convoy last weekend to Mainz.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
