Hi All,

I am in the process of securing the vehicle- pics to follow once secured.

The warranty expires in a few months from now and I intend to extend. Its a 2006 with less than 80k miles- so an OPC will extend upto 9 years old and to 125k miles.

What are my options?

The car has had a fortune spent on it two years back to ensure it passed the 111 OPC check.

Current price for warrantey renewal will be £2.4k, inc the 111 point check.

However, what hoops do I/will I need to jump through to keep the warrenty?

For example, servicing- fine and happy to go with OPC.

By when say, the discs are due (it has had new pads), but I noticed a tiny lip on the dics, well if I need to stick to OPC thats £1.6k down the drain.

I saw the post a little earlier re: 911virgin being allowed to change discs etc with OEM parts.

That got me thinking- is it worth looking into an inde. warranty if such a thing exists?

OR is it just a case of paying the OPC £2.4 for 2 years warranty, and getting the service stamped along the way....

Thought please,
HF

I think I'd keep the £2400 in my wallet. Engine failure is very rare, a gearbox is also rare and, what £4-5k? If the coolant pipes haven't been done it's £1k, the carden shaft thingygummyjig on the propshaft is under £500. If you buy the warranty you have definitely spent £2400, if you don't you have that much towards any relevant repairs, IF it ever needs any.

Think the 2400 is for 2 years and includes a very good recovery and replacement Porsche ?

Heard you were motoring well at Donnington Goose !!!!!

I would spend the 2.4k for peace of mind.

having said that, is it a private sale? If so, you could ask the seller to put the warranty on before the previous one expires. Which will work out slightly cheaper.

Also, as you say in the other thread, it was mentioned you can get the warranty, and this does not commit you to OPC servicing, so you can pay that 2.4k get the warranty, and then get an indie to look after it, I am still sceptical about this, but apparently it is correct!

Thanks for the advice so far chaps.

Piece of mind is the critical thing here- so may well bite the bullet.

Rang up OPC East London for a chat; according to those guys I simply buy the car, and let them know for the warrenty.

They also said a clear "NO" to fitting a Dension 500 BT- it will invalidate the warrenty.

Bugger- will have to live with a PCM 2.1.

Plan is to finish off purschase, and pop into OPC June time to get the warrenty renewed and I belive the 2 year service...

Fun and expensive times ahead.
