Cayenne Petrol V Diesel Overship Cost Differences
Discussion
All,
I need some advice on buying a Cayenne (circa 2008/2009) for my wife.
Option 1: Petrol V6 at cira £18000
Option 2: Diesel at circa £24000
We plan to keep the car for about 2 years and will cover about 20,000 miles. I am trying to get a feel for the total cost of ownership i.e. I am sure that the Petrol will cost more in fuel, but am wondering if that will be offset, at all ,by differences in depreciation?
Also, does anyone have a realy world view on combined fuel consumption?
Any opinions would be gratefully received.

You are wondering, not wandering, or perhaps you are wondering about wandering in a Diesel. My opinion is 18 mpg average for the petrol, and 28 mpg average over a year in a diesel. Do the sums , also a Diesel might sell easier in 2/3 years time. And if you travel on holidays to the Continent or Ireland then diesel is a lot cheaper than petrol.

Apologies for the spelling mistake. Now corrected.
I assumed 22-23mpg for the Diesel. If 28mpg is realistic for combined driving, Diesel could be the way to go.
Had a V8 cayenne for almost 4 years and they can drink fuel! Bought a diesel Cayenne almost a year ago now and it averages 25ish on short runs. Around 29-32 on a decent run. I do know that when the fuel gauge gets to half a tank and I look at the trip counter that the V8 would be on vapours ! So half a tank extra for free.
They have come down quite a bit since we bought ours, think that a diesel will be easier to sell come resale time too.
