I have an 06 Cayenne S. Tbh I'm getting a bit fed up of the boot lid closing on me (head bumped a few times) particularly in cold weather.

Mrs CH's ML has a couple of hydraulic struts that lift the boot lid and hold it up.

Can something similar be fitted to a Cayenne? Will an OPC do it, and if so, what is the likely cost?

This is about the only thing that bugs me about the car and I would like to try and get it sorted.

Sorry if this has been raised before.

No idea about whether it can be done, but I can suggest getting in touch with these guys:

No connection, but a happy customer.

The Cayenne has something similar, but is made to be neat and out of the way....which means it's much more involved to get at them to change them. I'd definitely replace the parts that have failed though rather than try and add something else.

Really? All I can see on mine are the two hinges at the top; there doesn't seem to be anything else connecting boot lid to the rest of the body. Will investigate further, thankssmile

Like I said, whatever assistance there is is very neat. Ask Mike at Sports and Classic what's involved if you like, he's replaced them before for customers.

Goose, I've been having a dig and you are of course absolutely correct! There are a couple of gas struts in the. roof and this looks like a very common problem on cars of that age.

Time to call the OPC and see what the damage to the wallet will be. Thanks.

I'd favour Mike at Sports and Classic. He has a great Cayenne reputation here. If only I lived in the UK.

I had mine replaced recently - at 9E, not OPC. I already had the replacement parts (came with the car) but the labour wasn't much I don't think.
