Ok guys, I put my car away last October as it was becoming too much of a ball ache to keep her clean and undercover (one disadvantage of apartment living with no garage).

'When do you plan on collecting her?' said Simon from the storage company.

'March' I said. However, looks like I won't be breaking the car out until late April at this stage! Until then I have the nice feeling that the car is tucked away from the elements and is being looked after. However, this time last year I was heading to the Champagne region for a nice Easter trip out. Whilst the weather wasn't tropical there wasn't snow around either.

For those of you who've also chosen to put your cars away for winter, when are you planning to break cover? The 20th April is my day for getting back behind the wheel - Just hope the weather starts to pick up soon :-)

So you only use your car 6 months a year? Which model is it?

My 18 year old car is mostly garaged during snow etc, but it does come out over winter for a good 'warming up'.

Mine has been in hibernation since October as well, apart from start ups and a few drives round the block to keep the oily bits happy.

I will tax it for 1st May, then it'll be down at my indys for a week of pre-season pampering.

Local show on up here on the second weekend of May (Fastlane show, Corbridge), so I'll hopefully collect the car on the Saturday and get up to the show on Sunday with some mates.

Then it's business as usual. Can't wait! smile

I hope they say April Fool when they give me the bill...hehe...still I'am looking forward to dropping the car off as I'am having a go in a new Cayman S it'll be interesting to see how it compares to my 987.2

Well this year it does indeed look like my car will be run for 6 months Compared with last year my previous GT3 was out in all weathers, but believe me looking after your pride and joy with only an outside car cover is hard work. Fortunately for me my current GT3 is unashamedly a pure toy and a keeper and I can justify keeping her off the road over winter. Don't get me wrong I am looking forward to the day I have a garage again and can use her occasionally when the weather is nice.

Looks like most people are breaking cover in April and I'll be reunited in a few weeks too. Love my daily drive but it can't compete for sheer smiles and involvement.

We're all very lucky to own our pork of various flavours - Happy motoring all and here's to a warm and safe summer!

Have to agree with jms1 there, I have my car under a car cover and because you need to keep the car clean to use it, it makes taking the car out much harder when the temperature is so low that you can't possibly wash it afterwards! It has meant that my car has been tucked up since November with the exception of a few drives. I haven't used it at all in the past few weeks, but fortunately it is spotless and on a trickle charge keeping it fresh.

As for when I'll be bringing it back out to play, hmmmm, I've got a busy few weeks so might wait until I'm certain that spring has arrived!

Has it been worth it for all the hassle? Yes because the car is amazing, but would I do it again with a future car, nah, probably not!
