Just been for a spin in something not German

And loved it!
Ferrari 550, dark blue, tan interior, 500 horses, magnificent!
Reason I'm posting here is I'm comparing to my 997 with 140 bhp less.
There was obviously more grunt and shove in the seat from lower down the rev range but never felt that much quicker higher up the rev range.
The ride was actually quite soft but did not roll through the corners.
Engine noise was intoxicating and shortly after found out this 550 was fitted with a Tubi.
As an occasional use car, this feels a lot more special, however after thinking about it, I don't know why.
The 997 has a much harder wearing interior, there are elements of a 'hand finished' look on the 550 especially on rubber seals and mesh around intakes and the exhaust pipes. The doors feel very light but the car feels very solid at speed. I know people bang on about how solid the air cooled 911's are but I think the 997 is more than solid enough compared to a car twice the price.
Thinking back to my previous cars, the ones I have missed the most are the ones that I've spent lots of money, time and energy on maintaining and not the cars that have just stayed perfect. So to me, a car feels special if I feel privileged to drive it with everything working. I must be odd!
