Hi all,

Electronic oil gauge is telling me, I am one whole sector above the minimum level. Where do you guys like to keep the oil level on your Cayman? I have tested it after a 45 minute drive, on the flat, as it won't let me see the level if the engine is not warmed up..

It is on a gen II 2.9 engine.

Thanks G

I always kept mine either at the top, or one bar below top. Gen 1 2.7, it never moved though. The 911 eats a bit of oil, but I top up when it gets to half on the digital measure.

However, I don't think that electronic guage is a measure of how much oil is in the engine, its just the top bit of oil. I can't be any more descriptive than that as I know not anything of mechanics other than how to put the key in the ignition.

But I'd top up if it was me. smile

I always keep my Gen 1 S at the top mark. That said it doesn't use any anyway.

I'd top it up, difference between max and min is over a litre

Each bar is 400ml. So top it up and monitor it.

I tend to top it up when there are two clear bars, so that I have no chance of over filling the sump.
