I am looking at getting a 2006/2207 997T

As I see it I have four options

1) From a OPC which will offer a 2 year warrqantee and fully detailed
2) From a specielist Porsche dealer - sometimes with a warrantee and detailing
3) From a non specialisty deal - no warrantee and maybe well valetted but not detailed
4) Private (it is what you see)

Am i toughly correct

Also, if I was to look at a typical car at a OPC (and lets say that will cost me 100%), what would a rough price be for the same car at the other dealers

1) 100%
2) 90%
3) 90%
4) 80%

or am i wronge

Thanks

I don't think you'll get a proper detail included anywhere unless you negotiate it - but because it's specialized work it will nearly always be a contracted in job (which will cost perhaps £300-400). That being the case, you may be better to choose yourself where this is done and have it done post-purchase (or pre-collection).

There's also some speculation that OPC's don't all necessarily do as much mechanical prep as perhaps they should, instead relying on their (excellent) Approved Warranty to resolve issues later (should they occur).

Number 4 is actually - Buy private. What you see is what you get, but...

if it still has opc warranty on it, it's transferable and extendable.

Opc safety net without opc purchase price.

To the OP, just a quick heads up on number 3: buying non-specilaist trader and no warranty

buying the vehicle from any trade outfit (OPC, Indy Porsche specialist or just a mixed private dealer) obliges them to offer a warranty with the car - most people dont realise this, especially from the latter. if they do not then they are responsible for taking the car back themselves to investigate and solve genuine problems with the engine / gearbox issues that a customer has with it for I think up to 6ms from sale (does not include consumables off course).

This is they use 3rd party warranty to cover themselves.

Off course its up to you to read the small print of the warranty on offer - many will play hardball on a claim and not provide or indeed match the correct labour rates and garages etc for such a high end car and its associated technicalities.

General consensus is that the OPC warranty is worth its price tag compared to 3rd party ones when its comes to claims etc.

I too am looking at 997.1 Turbo and I think the smart choice is find the right car for you (condition. colour, price etc) through OPC or with independent Porsche specialist OR put the same money aside in slush fund to contribute towards any niggles along the line.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ This is a common mis-conception. There is no duty on any dealer to provide any sort of warranty whatsoever.

However, should a fault occur (which isn't unusual on second hand goods) within the first 6 months following purchase then it's up to the dealer to prove that the fault wasn't there at the time it was supplied. This is usually easily done from the dealer's perspective as many faults are self-evidently new e.g. starter motor fails to start car after 2 months - the fact that it worked for 2 months proves it was ok when the car was supplied.

^^^This is correct, dealers will often supply a full MOT with a car as proof of roadworthyness at time of sale, some dealers offer a 3 month warranty but good luck with trying to make a claim, as said though there is no legal obligation to provide a warranty only that vehicle is fit for purpose and any fault occuring in the first 6 months wasn't present at the time of sale.
