Hi Guys

hopefully someone has the answer

thinking of a GT3 RS and found a nice one

but should it have a rear or full cage

rear is in but has front half ready to go back in

i always thought they only had rear ?

or was full a factory option?

thanks

Rear cage was OEM for Europe, not full cage. BTW, no full cage for TF at the Ring any more, OEM half cage fine.

Well the front can be removed, so not a problem. Just a couple bolts.

Only things is that with the front it's less user friendly when using the car on a daily basis...for track it's all the same.

It was and remains available, but IIRC it is technically a motorsport part so wasn't a box to tick on the options list and had to be ordered separately for something like €2000-2500.

Not quite on the TF front. The nature of the door bars is what will determine whether a full cage is permitted or not, and the single bar version of the Porsche front cage will certainly be okay. But slightly irrelevant as it is not currently possible to get the level of insurance cover that you would want on one for TF with a UK plated car (there are many threads, so if anyone wants to hash that all out again please resurrect one of those).

More difficult to get in and out of, very slight impediment to visibility and something to split your head open on in the event of a crash when not helmeted and harnessed on the road. The handbook for the 996 (with which the front section was supplied) said not to install it when driving on the road or without a helmet and that makes sense to me. Ultimately it is for the owner to decide though - opinions do vary somewhat on here.
