How much were 968's new?
Discussion
Just looking at prces of 968's and they seem to be all over the place.
I have seen simular cars go for (advertised for at least)12k and 18k.
there was a 968 sport advertised for 9k I think in one of the Porsche mags recently but more usualy 15-18k
anyhow I cant help but wonder what they cost new? all those years ago they cant have been much more than 20k. seems to me to have been a good buy. anyone remember the cost?
1994 prices:
968 Club Sport - £29975
968 Sport - £32995
968 Coupe - £37495
968 Cab - £40695
£12 - £15k should get you a good one now. Any more is too much unless you're talking concours / garage queens.
Paid £13k for mine earlier this year - 95 Sport, 48k, a/c, all bills, just needed some cosmetics.

So the CS is the one everyone pays extra for used yet was the cheapest to buy new
It is quite odd really when a 964RS was in the same year £12,789 over the base C2. £48k vs £61k
Altho more diferences over 964 RS to C2 than 968Coupe to 968CS (less so with MO30 spec 968CS)
Poorcardealer-
of course, oh and did I tell you you have lovely eyes
The 968 Clubsport was bought out to get the basic price down of the 968 below £30k to compete with the RX7 & Audi S2 for example. Once dealers and customers specced sunroofs and must have (?) leccy windows this pushed the price up again. This then led to the UK only "sport" model being introduced in '94.
911 clubsport of 1987-89 was also cheaper than the base carrera at the time. Porsche managed to register 53 examples during that period and today aoart from the 959 they are probably the most sought after Porsche of the period.

Paul, What £ do the go for now?
All different conditions obviously..
an average '88 with say 70k miles on the clock is around £24k with the low miles examples worth about £30k.
Some of the best examples may be worth a tad more as the club secretary has one with 4k miles from new and although they were white with red script, there is one in red with white script. I am sure these two are P.O.A. for sure
from memory they were about £38,600 when new.

Yes in the past....values were obviously lower 16-20k pounds would have bought any of them in '94-95 according to ads in the Sunday Times of the period.
Indeed but a few yrs back 964RS's were in the £teens also, thing is this 3.2CS was only 2 yrs ago, the fella got a very good deal.
Do you know if the ex Harris CS I spotted at Brands got sold for the top money he was after? wasnt he after about £26k?

How much was the 968 turbo s ? and how much now?
New it cost more than £60k, which was a bit much for a 968 CS with a modified 944 turbo engine.
Now they don't seem to go for less than £30k, whatever the condition.
PS : I doubt there was any RHD turbo S

Just found price for RS, DM198,200. Got no idea what that is in pounds! Apparently only three RS were built for customers! Only 16 968 S' were made, only fourteen sold. Porsche kept two.
So, bit of a rarity factor.

2 DM = 1 € ...
There were 4 968 turbo RS built, the first one ran at Le Mans in 93 and is currently for sale in the US ($150000), the seconde one is in south Africa, the third one is supposed to be in the UK and the fourth is also in the US.
14 968 Turbo S were sold. Contrary to popular belief the factory today doesn't have any ... for now ...
