Hey guys, still on the hunt for a Boxster, but I was just wondering what the main differences are between the cars, apart from power obviously.

Is the S definitely the one to go for? Because pricing wise they seem to have depreciated toward the standard engined cars; The 2.5 and the 2.7.

Is it worth going all out and getting the S or are the smaller engines more than capable? I think one thing that points me toward the S over the others is the rear tail lamp and headlamp colour. As in they are clear rather than orange. Not really a fan of that.

Having said that many owners seem to have swapped the lights over anyway on their 2.5's and 2.7's. Looking into it the lights seem quite expensive and it appears more cost effective to buy a car with it already done.

Other than engines and lights what are the other differences on the cars? Xenon, Nav, Cruise, etc etc, ???

Clear lights is a model year distinction rather than engine size. Some will say the smaller engines with the smaller wheels are better because you can use more of the performance more of the time. Personally, I bought an S and almost immediately begun modifying it - subtle rather than barry boy style of course.

With the S you get 6 speed box and bigger brakes. The suspension is also different. The wheel size on the S is typically bigger too on cars for sale.

Did I hear that the annual car tax is higher on a 3.2 vs a 2.7? I may be mistaken though.
