Having tried a number of larger cars Merc CLS 63, Maserati Quattroporte etc I have decided having test driven a 2004 Cayenne Turbo that I may well settle on a Cayenne Turbo but would like the Turbo S model. I like the one that was made in 2006 as I can probably get one with cheap road tax plus PASM which is something my Boxster has and a feature I personally like.
Having done a bit of research I noticed that the later Turbo's come with PDCC and near the 500+ BHP that the real animal version of the 2006 Turbo S had.
Has anyone first hand experience of both cars in the way they handle if so I'd like to hear your opinions.
I only do about 10K miles a year and will probably use it more in the winter months as I may well SORN my Boxster over the winter months as it attracts £470 road tax call me tight but I just object to paying it.

Had a 2004 Turbo for a little while. Really enjoyed it and glad I experienced it, especially the level of standard kit you get is fantastic. Well put together, mine was reliable, apart from the PCM going and a coil pack replacement under warranty. It was devastatingly quick for the weight and handling not bad, if you had the air suspension.

The only downsides for me were the constant oil and fuel consumption. Also the brakes were not up to scratch, heard that the Turbo S had more stopping power. They represent amazing value for money when purchased second hand, however running costs are a different matter...

The Turbo S is a very capable car. Bundles of power and handling which belies it's size. You really do get a sporty drive out of the thing without it being intrusive. I tend to have the car set in "comfort" mode all the time but can still push on when using private roads and there is no wallowing. The car doesn't goad you into having to drive like a mad man to try and prove anything. Once in a blue moon I might have some fun with a car on the outside lane at traffic lights who was hoping to nip past but only to amuse the family, I get no pleasure myself smile

A lot of the Cayennes out there are very tired. They get used as work tools and are not revered in the same way older 911s might be. Buy a good example rather than trying to cobble together a particular specification. Even a standard Turbo S will have all the toys you need.

We've been running a 2006 car for a year or so now and have no intention of changing it.

Thanks very helpful reply, I'm guessing like in the Boxster the PASM is on all the time. Is the Turbo S likely to eat running gear any quicker due to the power increase.
