I've just ordered Bridgestone Potenza S02's for the rear of my 3.2 Carrera. Have I done the right thing? Having read various forums I think I probably have but please tell me your experiences of this tryr on the back of a 1980'2 Carrera?

The car has the standard 6" & 7" Fuchs alloy wheels w/225/50-R16 ZR tyres on it just now.......

They are my wet weather tyre on my 968 CS track car and are hugely impressive. Even in the dry.

I used them in all weathers and speeds on my 993 including 160mph on the Autobahn.

No complaints at all.

Yes the SO-2 is a good tyre but it came out circa 1998! Surely there must be modern rubber that far exceeds 15 year old technology.

I used to run an 89 3.2 and burned through several sets of these.

Great tyre.

Though I do drive my car reasonably hard it doesn't see track days or abuse. I only average 2-3000 miles between MOT's so I am sure that the S02's will suit me just fine, thanks for your post though.

Yup S0-2A. Got them on my 993, No track work but driven pretty hard and work fine for me.

Not directly relevant to the OP but I have found them to be very noisy in 255/40/17 format on the back of my Boxster so will avoid in the future.

So they will probably be OK on a proper Porsche then?smile

Just joking of course, that old chestnut 'aircooled & 911 vs The rest what-ho"

With a 40% sidewall profile they could well be noisier than a 50%. The noise of the air-cooled flat 6 will drown it out though, oops! There I go again.

Thanks for the post MogulBoy.
