I have noticed a small deep scratch near the front passenger wheel right at the bottom of the bodywork. It has a red colour to it as if it has hit a brick although I always reverse into a parking space due to some high kerbing and cannot remember coming into contact with anything, Is there anything I can use to clean away the reddish colour.

Probably best to get one of those mobile Chips Away guys to have a look at it.

If its just residue from whatever you hit I would start with T cut and use a damp cloth, this will certainly remove all the discolouration. You will then be able to see if its actually done any damage to the paint surface, minor imperfections can be taken out very carefully with cutting paste followed by T cut and then polish. I've used this method for about 40yrs and providing your carefull it will do the job. Obviously if the mark has gone clean through the paintwork then a touch up is necessary

I wouldnt recommend old school Tcut for this. My Dad had a similar problem with his Audi A6 and while it did remove the scratch it also removed the shine of the paint needing a machine polish after. There are better alternatives to Tcut like Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 or Farecla Scratch Remover Paste (both available from Halfords).
Any chance you can post a pic? The general rule is that it wont polish out if you can feel the groove of the scratch with your nail.

There has been a specific T-cut for metallic paint available for well over 10 years now, which could be suitable for something like this. For something in the area you've mentioned it is something a Smart repair specialist (such as Chips Away or Revive!) could do something with, be that to flat (i.e. rub it with wet & dry paper) and polish it or otherwise a small localised paint repair.

Thank you for the replies.

I was unsure what I could use to try and remove the red mark so I did not cause any further damage so thank you for the suggestions.
If I get time tomorrow I will post a photo.

smear it in regular polish, let it soak in and then give it a rub. You might not get rid of the scratch or graze but once the colour has been removed your eye will not be drawn to it. If polish does not work , go with something a little harder like tardis. As has been said , if it needs more than what I've suggested then a minor paint repair will have it back to new in no time.
