Hi people.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the best exhaust for a 2003 996tt.

Nothing wrong with mine but I would like to consider a better exhaust note.

Does the ecu need work?

There's plenty out there to choose from, Miltek, Europipe, Tubi, Cargraphic, Ruf, to name but a few. Just depends on your budget.

The biggest issue with exhausts is, unless you can listen to another one first, you never know how good or bad it will sound until you've bought and fitted it.

You can fit one without touching the ECU and generally having a system with 200 cell cats (400 standard I think) wont throw any warning lights from the lamda sensors. Some 100 cell cats can give the errors but spacing the sensors slightly outwards in their fitting can sort it.

If you're thinking of a remap as well, then doing the exhaust first is the right way to go.

I've had a Europipe stage II loud with 100 cell cats fitted now for over 5 years and never had issues with CEL etc. Build, fit & finish are superb, very helpful firm to deal with and sound is excellent IMO, its even supplied with full fitting instructions and tools to do the job without the need to remove rear bumper. I specced mine with the oversized quad tail pipes as per the Porsche originals which are made by the same OEM manufacturer. As above though, you really need to hear a few in the metal if sound is the main concern (you tube clips are generally crap). Europipe is expensive and seems to have increased significantly since I bought mine but give Stef a bell as he always seems to be up for a deal wink

Hi

I got myself Carnewall Exhaust "P96Turbo /GT2 : "GT" Exhaust" which is very good and sounds great. biggrin

It make the car sound like a real porsche wink

The way it works you buy a reconditioned/remanufactured unit from Carnewall, he then sends it out. You then fit the new one and send the old one back and get a refund.

I've got a Miltek which I'm happy with but I understand that Nine Excellence have developed their own in house switchable unit for the TT which I would consider if I was doing it again

I've just ordered a Speedtech 2.5 exhaust from the states. I've heard only good things about them, plenty of nice sounding videos on Youtube, and the pricing isn't outrageous even once you factor in the dreaded VAT and import duty.

Details here: http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/page34.html
