Just had a letter from my OPC about an annual inspection due on my 991 (this is as well as my recall notice about my exhaust mufflers). Is it necessary and does anyone bother as the price quoted (£144) seems a bit steep?

I think its necessary to maintain your bodywork warranty.

My car is all stamped up for the bodywork warranty and the service book shows this requirement as every 2 yrs.

In which case, its sounds a bit pointless. Personally I have an oil change every year regardless of the schedule - but then I track the car.

It depends on the Year of your car. Mine is a 2004 which is no different to the 2003 boxster but my car doesn't require annual inspection.

Do 991's need an annual inspection?

Are you sure??? That's a step backwards from the 997....

Yup, once a year should cover it.

1. Recurring, done, or performed every year; yearly: an annual medical examination.
2. Of, relating to, or determined by a year: an annual income.
3. Botany Living or growing for only one year or season.
n.
1. A periodical published yearly; a yearbook.
2. Botany A plant that completes its entire life cycle in a single growing season.

Don't worry about the bodywork warranty, Porsche won't honour it anyway.

I would recommend speaking to your OPC for clarification and if they recommend having it, go ahead. You've forked out serious money for a new 991, so for the sake of £144 just do it as it may help come trade-in time IMHO

Sounds like your OPC trying to drum up business!

Edit.. I'd recommend looking at your service schedule and only entertaining it if it's highlighted there.
